Creatice mp3's is using iPod to stop all sales in the US over some patent
----------
San Francisco - Singapore-based digital music hardware company Creative has sued Apple, claiming that the iconic Ipod violates its patents, media reports said Tuesday.
Creative claims that Apple's best-selling gadget violates a patent it was granted in the US in 2005 for its own Zen MP3 player, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday. Creative filed the lawsuit in San Francisco District Court.
Creative is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages for what it says is a 'wilful infringement of the Zen patent'.
The lawsuit comes as Apple's Ipod continues to dominate the market for portable music players with some 72 per cent of all sales, according to research group NPD, which estimated Creative's share at less than 10 per cent.
Creative said it had also filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission, asking for an injunction that would stop Apple from selling the Ipod and Ipod Nano in the US.
