Hahah thats not me tim that dudes names jack asweel hes 7 i think. haha. it wasnt open to the public me and Ben just started up the T and set up some jibs. Pritty phat!!!!
Yeah that was our oringal plan. But we opened ran the top tow for about 5 runs, but it was as icey az hell. But i mite have a look sunday. should have soften up by then. U going to the top this W.E?
right now they're probably in a storage room in calgary. or they may have been put into a box already, but they're being shipped over to me in wanaka from home, so i didnt have to backpack for a month with my pack, skis, boots, poles, winter pants/jacket, camera, two lenses, tripod...yeah you get the idea
I'm not even gonna TELL you what I got on Tuesday.... hehe, ....... damn. it was just a toasted sandwich, not nearly as cool as your little jib, fuck...
less then a month to go people,
whakapapa already has a base better then hutt/coronet/cardrona/remarks has eva had it in the last few years, and its only may19th!
bout 1m already
rock on a 4m base this season!
back to the good old days of riding the t-bars in the 2m trenches....
wouldent b great to farewell our 2 of our t-bars with an epic season?
keep in mind though that hut and cardrona, being all tusock and dirt, only need 30cms to cover everything. Unlike our big ass hunk of rock that needs bloody 2 meters of gold to cover it, haha, fuck it, I'm going down in half an hour, wOOOOOOOt!!! Skis all freshly waxed, it's HAMMERTIME!
yeah tho atleast our hunk of rock has a shitload of features, and a backcountry full of cliffs/shutes and cornices
unlikes sum south island fields that are pretty much flat with the occasional rock jutting out.
whakapapa fukn ownz, if you can ski there, you can ski any conditions in any terrain.
yeah we need more snow at Ruapehu but Hutt still really needs 60-70cm to become ridable. I spent a few seasons there and the 30cm base at the beginning was pretty much unskiable.
1 metre for May is freakin' awesome! Coming off the back of an epic season in Canada here's hoping for the double, 2 epic seasons in a row!! hell yeah!!
Walked up to the crater, bombed sick lines into the plateau, did some hiking around the top of the gut and some sweet little faces in there, then a techy rock hop down to the bottom of the waterfall, all good, snow cover down to the carpark but it was a bit soft and kept busting through so walked the last bit down - bit early in the season to be wrecking skis, wooooT!! Good day all round, will post the pics up next week, got some sickies!! WERD!
Dam! i missed out. I have that PXT on my phone dude but for some reason i cant look at it and its really deeping me hard!
Im sorting out a crew at the mo to head over to Turoa for the opening, so any of you punks want to head over there and have an NS crew it will be all go! Punch some lines, kill the park (If they have one built?) and reck some shit!
I hate summer, even though I spend the entire summer riding bikes, hurtling down rivers in my kayak, freeclimbing and surfing, I still wish I was skiing...
Unfortunately some of us work for big corporate salaries and only get 4 weeks of holiday a year... sucks... BUT, in a year or so I will have saved enough coin to take a year off and live out the back of a combi and ski my days away, WOOT!
True? What are you doing down there bro? That's awesome...
I kinda wish I'd taken a few years out to bum it and do nothing but ski and ride bikes, too bad I got sucked up by the corporate monster, fuck it all...
ah, im just workin food and beverage for the Chateau, i did it all last season.
its a fukn great job, i fully recomend it to any one wanting work down there.
all i do is ski all day and then work in the restaurant / bar 5 nights a week.
no complaints there.... they hook you up with cheap accomodation and food also.
i found it easy to get a job there and i had no experience in F & B before that.
whats with tis weather, the season was looking so good and then it rained and got windy, looks like its getting colder again though and there has been a slight dusting of snow on the nzski.com mountains hopefully it keeps coming
Always happens down here dude - well, for the last 10-15 years anyway since we started heating this here rock up. Big southerly system rolling through as of today, winds changed last night and the mercury dropped a fair bit, forecast is for snow all week so hopefully it's a decent dump, unfortunately anything that would have been a decent base has been washed away with the rain so yeah, will be interesting to see what happens, might just be a slow start but if you look at the stats from the last 5-10 seasons, it's really no different to normal, it'll be sweet, the snow will come, I can feel it in my bones...
