Ok, so I've been on the prowl for mogul skis and I finally reached a conclusion that I wanted the Super Moguls but the smallest I have found are 170s and I'm 5'3"to 5'4". I think that's a tad big but I'm not 100%, what do you guys think?
for moguls there's no real advantage in getting a longer ski, i'm 5,11 and prefer 175cm for moguls.
you want super light weight and fast edge to edge for moguls. less length just makes life easier. although i guess you need enough length so that you can handle getting a bit back seat but you aren't gonna do that cos' you're awesome right;)
you don't need a mogul specific ski either. a light weight skinny ski in the right length would be better than "mogul specific" in the too long length.
i know that your minda set on that ski but its is a bit big unless your a super agressive skier, then it could be allright, the thing that you have to remember is you cant a quick edge to edge and a longer ski could cost you, i recomend the k2 cabrawler, it comes in a 159, 169 and a 179 so it goives you some choice
170s will be too big for you in the bumps especially since you had been skiing shorter skis everywhere else. cabrawlers come in 159s and dragonslayers come in 160s. email KB and ask her what she thinks as well. she may have some ideas.
It depends on how stiff they are because if they are really stiff you want them somewhat short, but if they are really soft a little big is nice because you can get more speed but still flex the ski.
cool, thanks guys!! I appreciate it a lot, I'm gonna do a bit more reserach and go to a few more shops before i buy my skis!! Hope you guys are prepping for 06-07 ski season!
170's litle long for a mogul ski compared to how tall u r I say just find a thin pair of twin tips, i have dynastar candides there old but they're gr8 in the moguls and id reccomend the 4frnt STL's
no one was aking what a 12 year old kid, who really knows very little about the sport thinks. if you had any knolage about the sport what so ever you would know that freestyle branched off moguls, you could argue the point that it would have started regardless but with out it who knows where the sport would be
so to sum it all up i restate my point of shut the fuck up
actually it's just a regular mount... which compared to the centre mount obsession on NS does look like alot less tail but it's pretty normal. you need tail for support otherwise you'll just ass plant on big landings and steep bumps.
mogul skis aren't especially different to pipe specific skis, similar sort of requirements only a touch skinnier.
ps those of you who think moguls are gay need to take a look at some of the pro skiers you bum so much. the reason these guys kick ass so much is often because they used to ski moguls. if you can ski moguls well likelyhood is that you're pretty skilled with them planks attached.
I really don't mind that people think the bumps are gay. It keeps those poser pansies off my side of the mountain. Too bad they don't understand the progression of mogul skiing, that just further exemplifies the poser's lack of ability and talent. It says to me, "Hey, I'm just here to show-off my gear and myself so that I can resemble the pros and come off the mountain with a couple of ski bunnies by my side." If I have just labelled you in the afore mentioned statement, I feel a lot of pity for you and your shallow lifestyle. Oh well, I'm over it... back to skiing the last patches of the season, haha that's right I ski the shit snow of May till end of season at A-Basin.
wow, your such a dumass that i want to kill you, you know nothing about skiing as ait is today, cause guess where it came from, and guess what a lot of the big names now did back in the day........moguls
it pissses me off so much when ppl talk shit on moguls, those are the kids that are so cool and go around attempting to butter off cat tracks, lean on thier tails as they cruise the groomers on the way to the park, and then they go out west because backcountry is all the rage right now, hike a line, and fall all the way down cause they have neverlearned to edge on some real ice. i have been skiin and competing in moguls since i was 8 and it has made me a fundamentally good skier. i am not talking about terrain parks, cause kids who dont even know how to ski can be semi good in the park, listen to what the pros are saying, learn how to ski b4 u go and try to get good in the park. moguls and racing gives you an extremely solid backround in which to progress your park skills. 90% of the kids on this site oculdnt make it down the side of placids course without looking like a deushbag. you think 70 foot tables are big? air landings in world cuup courses are often 72 feet and guys over shoot it. ye those guys throwin cork esven and d seven in the moguls are soo gay. take it ffrom someone that has been arund since the start like mike douglas, all of the new candian air force. rory bushfield used to compete world cup moguls, as did hendrik winstedt. except for jon olsson almost every major pro started in moguls. and all of you who idolises tanner hall, look at the movie degenerates, who is that kid in blue fate pants shreddin the bumps
