first of all what is a good size jump to start doing switch spins? at blue there is like a 10 footer and the next thing there is a 35 footer . should i be building my own jump at home thats bigger then 10 feet or just kill myself by hitting the 35 footer ?
10ft will be just fine. Hit it over and over doing switch 1s, then try some sswitch 3s. Do that for a couple days, or until you are very comforable on it, then make sure you have ur speed right, and do swtich 1s and 3s on the 35ft. Then keep progressing.
Right when the season starts, before the park is built/good, i just mach down runs switch. practice skiing switch, staggering your feet, looking over both shoulders. It's so important.
try doing all your runs in the park sw. trying to keep up with your frends makes you ski sw. a lot faster each times until you can ski just as fast both wasy and are very comfortable
now you can hit jumps
start with the 10 and do 1s and 3s until you have them good
i would do the 35, 35 is soo small, my first was a switch one on a bumb in a run but of a jump it was a 50 at our park. just go in steady and when you get to the lip just go really slow into a switch 1. so suck it up and dont be a pussy. just DO IT and youll go far in this sport.
any size jump will do, no matter how small. it's fun sometimes to hit mellow small jumps switch. i shouldn't be in a position to talk because my sw. 5's are penciled out everytime i do them off a decent sized jump.
Just start off the 35ft. jump. You won't kill yourself off it and it'll give you plenty of time to adjust to your mistakes in the air. It's the small shit that'll get you injured.
