Loveland Ski Area - Smith Limo Pics Are Up!

I would like to thank the 90 skiers/riders who came out and hit the Smith Limo this past Sunday! Special thanks goes out to Zach (Limo Driver) and Smith Optics for bringing this monster up to our very own Love Park!!! Special shoutouts to Dave & Charlotte w/ Freeskier Magazine, Julie & Chris w/ Newschoolers.com, Eric Schmitt w/ Eric Schmitt Photography....

Cool stuff; don't know why Loveland is closing so early though, I was just up at A-Basin Today (May 10th) and they had a good six inches of fresh up on the East Wall on North Pole Chutes and the Staircase... conditions looked pretty good at Loveland too, I talked to a few guys who were hiking the cornice up above Loveland on the divide facing the A-Basin valley and they said the snow up there was still pretty "wintery" as well. Actually caused a small slide today @ A-Basin which was pretty crazy; I was skiing one of the upper chutes on North Pole and decided to hit this really sweet looking spine, only problem was there is about a 30-40 foot 60+ degree drop on both sides that holds sbow badly so as I was about halfway down I just here "whoosh" and see snow sliding on both sides.... Nothing dangerous as it didn't slide far, but made for one of the best runs of the season for sure.... Thats what it must be like up in Alaska or B.C except way bigger and with "you-fall-you-die" lines everywhere and more pow. Not bad for May 10th though! Gotta love A-Basin.

we would love to stay open later each season but the two reasons we don't:

*not enough skier visits to consider staying open :( (everyone is playing golf, biking, boating and pretty much tired of the snow)

*our lease is up with the forest service, so we can't stay open as late as a-basin....

if it was up to me, i would be open super late....im glad you guys had fun at the comp! i'm trying to get more and more rail jams, comps at loveland...so look for more events at the love next year! thanks for the support!!!!
