Definition of Poser.

I know what a poser is, but to what degree do you have to pose to be a poser. I heard people say that if you got sick stuff and you suck then your a poser. I thought that you have to suck and make fun of people and act like your good to be a poser. Which 1 is it?

I have a snowboarder friend who says skiing's so easy and I watched Poniac World of Skiing with him and Mike dougles was in sun peaks and were skiing tree runs and clifs and he said that he could do that on skis. He can't even go in a straight line on a snowboard and can't even carv on skis and he said he's better than me. He also said all the people in ski mags use wires and arn't really jumping. Is he a poser?

I think for the most part posers are just people who want to be something they're not really badly but they lack the ambition to actually go out there and change themselves. Everything about them is an act.

I just started skateboarding, and i know, pretty much nothing about it...no brands or any of that kinda shit. but than this kid who doesn't skateboard, or even try, know pretty much everything about it...yet I'm supposed to be the poser according to him...I've got some shitty wal-mart brand board....yet he calls me a poser...explain how this makes sense...?

here's what i think. if a kid works for and has awesome gear but he sucks, he's not a poser. he's into the sport and everything, so dont be an ass and get him out of it. a poser is someone who gets everything from his mommy and daddy, sucks, talks shit, and doesn't even know anything about skiing. or someone who sucks at the park yet stays in there all day and still cant wedge his way down a simple diamond run.

i dunno.....there are always posers in a sport.....but you can't define a poser as one thing, because every poser is different, as with every skiers style. i guess a good generalization on a poser would be someone who talks it up and can't back it. that's all it comes down to. don't matter what you ride, don't matter how you got your gear, don't matter where you ride, all that matters is what you say you can do. if you say you can only do a spread, then everyone will believe that you can only do a spread, nothin wrong with it. after all everyone starts somewhere....shit i remember my first spread, well the season at least. however, lets remember: it's all about progression...everyone always wants to be better then they are. And, that's a good thing. it motivates you to push your limits. it's the ones who talk like they're better than they are to be 'cool' or whatever. that's where the posing comes into play.

a poser is someine who talks a lot of shit and means it. i for instance talk abunch of shot to erich when enevr i see him. but i know that he is alot better at skiing than i will probably ever be. to be a poser you have to have nice shit but not even know why its nice. you have to not work on your skills at all. i consider someone who learned a 360 and throws nothing but a 360 with no varation, no trying to push himself a complete poser. a poser is really someone who skis for bragging rights and not no be hardcore and just to be able to call himself a skier. this has been the most intelligent thing i have said in weeks. i am also typing without moving my left middlefinger. thank you

The person I was talking about said I was a poser cause I had nice skis but I've been savin up for a couple of years and he said that he's never seen me do a 180 (which I couldn't do before cause I didn't have twin tips).
