Getting a Nikon D50... and Here are My Lens Options

Here is the deal, my local camera store has a Nikon D50 with a 18-55mm lens for $810(Canadian).
But, the cost of the Nikon D50 body is $648.
And the cost of the Nikon 18-55 lens that comes with the D50 package for $810 costs $210.
But now, here is the question... the Nikon 55-200mm lens is only $40 more then the 18-55mm lens ($250).
Should I just go for the D50 body and buy the 55-200mm lens seperate? Or should I go for the package? I save about $84 if I get the 18-55 lens with the package.
How much better is the 55-200mm lens compared to the 18-55mm?
But then, they also ave a Nikon D50 DSLR W/18-55/55-200 LENS.. I am assuming that is both of the lenses I listed above, but in one package. This costs $1036.
What is my best option here? Should I get one of the two packages? Or get the body and the lens seperate?
I plan to shot mountain biking, bmx, skateboarding, skiing, and some general shots (landscape, nature, architecture... etc).
Sorry for spacing it out so much, makes it easer for me to read... damn Dyslexia.
Thanks.

ok man, with your lense questions, the 18-55 will be good for close up shots, like if your standing on the deck or next to the table deck, the 55-200 will be good for distance shots where you want there to be little to no backround. im not shure what your cash flow is but i sugest betting both, i have a e-500 with a 40-15 lense and a 18-50 lense, and they are both good for different situations. as for the body i cant help much there cause i dont know much about nikon stuff, having never owned one i could be giving fause advise

get the new 18-200 nikkor vr lense, then you will only have one to lug around and its awesome. downside is it is backordered everywhere and 700 bucks.

I don't know how much money you have, but I suggest getting a slightly higher quality lens like the Nikon 18-70 3.5-4.5 that is included with the d70. I don't know if it's packaged with the d50, but it's around $250-$300.

get a canon, higher resolution for about the same price...and the lenses, get em both. an 18 to 55 is a decent all around lens but you're not going to get the shot variety you want because you will always have to be so close, same is true of the 55-200. You'll want both, trust me...and while youre at it, get a fisheye. It's the ultimate lens for making things look bigger than they are (except you have to get real close to make it effective)

I really dont have the money for a Canon right now, and I need something to start with and I think the D50 should be good enough. In the future if I go more in depth with photography I will most likely get a Canon, but as of right now the D50 will do me just fine.
I will most likely just by the package with the 18-55mm lens just to start out with. Then I will get the 55-200mm and buy some gear from there.
Thanks for all your input guys, I really apreciate it.

Out of those two, get the 18-55, but the 18-70 would be a better choice - I started with only this lens for my D70 but still use it regularly now.

I'd like to say that im pretty experienced in photography... but not all in a good way. Haha. I can shoot with good angles, colours and such... but I'm still learning, and some out my shots turn out like shit because the camera I'm using right now is pretty down right shitty.
I think the 18-55 lens will be good enough to start out... I could really use the zoom for wildlife photography.
I plan on getting the 50mm lens once I get the camera and some much needed accessories(tripod, bag, mem card).
Then a flash and some hot shoe adapters and a sync cord... then a fish eye or maybe the 55-200mm.
Thanks for your info, it was pretty helpful.
