for a few years in a row, we drove our bus from INDIANA, to Whistler BC. 1 week out... stopping at all major landmarks and parks....ski for 3 weeks.... then one week back, going down the coast, to Huntington beach, Venice beach... Vegas... etc. it's great.

I think the drive from NYC to tuckerman was longer than the flight from NYC to vancouver... and, yeah, just like someone else, I'm hoping to swing a trip to Chile this summer too.

26 hour bus journey (had a breakdown, usually about 20 hours) to France.
About 30 hours (don't actually know) to NZ then another internal flight, then a bus journey (6hours) to Queenstown.
14hour overnight national express up to Scotland, for the weekend.
The shortest journey for me to ski was probably about 7 hours.
