ARMADA SKIS ARE MADE OUT OF CARDBOARD.

Has anyone else out there come to the conclusion that Armada skis are made out of cardboard? After seeing and hearing about countless pairs of these cheap shitty skis delaminating, getting the edges completely ripped out and comming with crazy defects I am pretty sure they are made with the same materials as most cardboard boxes. This could be an ad for Armada> The new AR5, straight up with .0003 mm alluminum edges, solid 100% recycled cardboard core a beeswax racing base, and a topsheet made using the same materials as many brands of Saran Wrap.
Oh yeah, and has anyone ever hit a rock on their Armadas. Well, if you have, you probabaly had some deep regretts about spending $ 600.00 on your new JP vs. Julians after you notice that the rock went all the way through the paper thin base into the shitty wood core!!!

man what are you talking about, armada skis are solid, and there are countless stories on this site alone that tells of armada sending a new pair of planks when there is major delam, or edge problems, so i think you need to talk about what you know

I've hit so many rocks under 7th heaven on my JPs it's ridiculous. There are rocks everywhere over there. I think I must have hit 75% of them. Total core shots: 0.
... my camber is fucked though.

the only thing i can kindof agree with is the topsheet, my ar5s get bad chipping/peeling on the topsheet. thats the only problem ive had

10 footer drop to rocky landing at lake louise on my AnT's. Only scratches in my base. Those skis are fucking solid. I dont understand why you people have to hate on ski companies. Armada warranties almost everything. You get your skis back quicker then anywhere else, and they hold up just as good and most likely better then alot of the other skis companies on the market.

you must be kidding. Do you actually own a pair, or just hating on them? I rode this year's AR5 and couldn't get enough of them. The only downside was the topsheet getting chunked, but that is expected when your skis smack together on a hard crash.
- as for rocks: I have hit a couple of rocks and have almost no visible damage whatever. Haven't even needed a p-tex/
- as for bindings ripping out or edge problems: I have ridden armadas the last two seasons: not a single problem.
Not really sure what your beef with Armada is, but your original thread information was comparable to that of a 9 year old's writing and intelligence level.

you're a fucking douche bag. All this shit you're complaining about is stuff that "you've heard about armada". You probably have never even owned a pair, why the fuck would you start a thread complaining about skis you don't even own. Nothing in you're thread was funny or true, you are a tool.

Is an inferior product really ok just because they'll warantee it quickly? I've seen quite a few pairs of Armadas with the bases mostly gone from core shots, and that's one of the reasons why I never plan on owning a pair. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so don't try to say somebody is "wrong" because their experience has been different than yours.

hey don't buy Armadas. No sweat off their back, I am pretty sure they are doing just fine. However, MOST people have experience their skis to be quite solid. As I said, I nailed a rock and only had a small nick that was tuned out. I guess it is possible some aren't as good. *shrugs*

theyre not inferior in any sense. i actually find them to be more durable than alot of/most products from rossignol, salomon, k2, dynastar, elan, etc.

Haha, nice thread it brought me some good laughs......I had AR5's from three years ago I think (whatever year the skis were in Yearbook that t-hall was riding)and I hated how the topsheet would scratch if I even looked at them wrong......but wouldn't keep me from buying from them again.

cardboard skis are so ill. They have the craziest flex out there. they're a bit limp when it comes to pop but they make up for it in their speed. Also do not try to butter with cardboard skis.

hmm ive had some good results and some shitty results with armada.
my ar5s got FUCKED up for no reason. there wasnt even a damn season last year, but i still managed to have the topsheet go to shit (and i dont really care about topsheet chips). the worst part was i had edges popping out everywhere: tip, tail, middle, didnt matter. When all was said and done i had like 130 inches rip out of both skis. So basically, there was barely any edge left. and some armada guy at whistler didnt even know his damn skis (he thought the edges were teethed, but oh boy they are not, so they rip out like its their job). Also, my very first day i got a core shot.
My JP vs Juliens on the other hand have been quite a delight. Ive had some much fun on them. However, I did have a binding rip out, and saw that the core was this like particle board/foam like shit. oh well, theyve held up well

Cardboard would be a very useful thing for skis to be made of. Well, in terms of you'd be able to recycle them anyways.
Recycling makes me feel like a better person.

yeah but we need to make the skis preform better, sometimes recyclabe materials dont work as well... so we shoudl wrap the cardboard skis in something strong, like wood, but wood woulnt hold together when it gets wet, so we should put like, some type of petrolium based plastic arround the outside... then for better edge grip, i think the ski should have a stainless steel edge circling the outside... yeahhh im gonna be rich

yeah what are you talking about because my edges are still amazing and they have been bashed around.

my AR5 edges are cracked to shit. The skis have softened up like mad too.
MAYBE THEY ARE MADE OF CARDBOARD!?!?!
we may be onto something.

I think Armada's quality has improved exponentially each season. The first year they sucked, period. Topsheets got skanked and edges fell out. Don't know too much about the second years. This years seem to have done well, just as well as any companies with the exception of Head.

i've never skied armadas until this season at test fest (the o7 skis). i was extremely impressed with them. each ski i tested was better than the last. i liked the skis so much that i talked my boss into picking them up for next season. i can't say enough good things about armada.
