Almost $0.90 Canadian Dollar

I'm getting kind of tired of the "$5000 Canadian? That's like 40 cents US!" jokes. So just to let you go, the Canadian dollar is nearing 90 cents to the American Dollar. The 60 cent dollars was a billion years ago (look I can exaggerate too), so I just want to let you guys no that it's not funny when it's extremely-not-true, it just shows some severe undereducation.

i know, isnt that awesome, a friking high canadian dollar. I can imagine it now, where 90 cents USD is worth 1 canadian dolalr, that would be so cool, and then we could go the US and buy stuff for cheap.

20 bucks is still worth 5 cents to me. The old exchange still lives in my heart. Ironic, cause canada has a richer enconomy, but yet US has the higher dollar...

I loved the crazy exchange rate because whenever I came back from canada I'd have tons of change that I could use in the US. Except in pop machines.

it isn't that canada raised the value of its dollar, its that we have inflated our money for ecomonic purposes. but yes I agree, the joke are just ignorance.

that would be a devastating nightmare for the economy and stock market though. it would seriously interfear with stock values and terrifs from trade through canada and the US

best part about the exchange rate is at canadian strip clubs not only can you touch the strippers in canada but you do it at a discount, 1 loony = about 82 cents us last time i was up there it was great. got to love discount strippers.
but on a more seroius side a buddy of mine bought some propety at tremblant a few years back when the exchange rat was about 60 cents he sold it last year with apriciation and the strenhened canadian dollar he made a killing. he baught it for 235k canadian = 141k american at 60 cent exchange rate. sold it for 362k canadian = 300.46K american at the 83 cent exhange rate.

We've lost close to 200,000 manufacturing jobs due to this high dollar, yet our unemployment rate is the lowest it's been in years.
Buying tax free stuff in NH is suddenly worth it again!

Its because the banks are trying to control the dollar and keep it low. The reason is because of trade. Products are cheaper in Canada, so investors will buy Canadian products.
The currency reflects on inflation and investment in a country, not on the economy.
The Canadian dollar is rising, but the american dollar is decreasing. Therefore it makes the canadian dollar look higher.

hmmm
problem is that our canadian beer uses a different measuring system. Canada measures alcohol by volume, and the states does alcohol by mass, or the other way around, so the measuring systems are different...anyways its definilty not 5 times more alcoholic...

and here we have liar #1, our pennies, quarters, dimes and nickles are made out of the EXACT same metals. Recently though our pennies became copper plated to save money.

i heard on the news a while ago, that in the next couple years the canadian dollar may be close to being exacly the same as the usd... when that day comes think of how great it will be when you see the $$$ signs you dont have to worry about cad or usd
All times are Eastern (-5)
