I witnessed something today that will forever change my perspective on the progression of this sport. I'm not at liberty to discuss what I witnessed. But what happened has changed my perspective of skiing and what we risk every day on the hill.
I'm a little disturbed by the progression of this sport. Jumps are getting bigger, rails are getting more gnarley, and the consequences of this evolution have been prominent this year with all the injuries we've seen. I just want to know where it stops. When will people or will people ever realize that they've gone to far. Is it worth the risk? I don't know. I think yes and no for a million different reasons.
I think I'm just worried that our sport has turned into somewhat of a daredevil stunt show. Maybe that's why we get mocked and scoffed at by the general public. I don't know. I just hope that maybe we could put our priorities more into the progression of style and creativity and less into just plain sketchier sh*t.
I really don't want to see this many injuries again in one season. This has been a really creepy year. But I'm not sayin "be careful" or anything... cause you know I'm all about hittin that sh*t. just use your head.
