we copied u whyte ave has been whyte ave since like i unno like the 40s the red mile was just plain old 17th ave until the flames had a freak good season and u all jumped the bandwagon and gave 17th a pet nickname of the red mile

Watching the Calgary Flames play hockey last night was alright. But they deserved to lose. Their powerplays were the worst. How is it that The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, could continuously dump the puck back into Flames ice SIX times for every two minutes of powerplayage. It was kind of embarassing, they were god dammed toying with them.

I dont want to be a downer like this but, it's a momentum killer for the Calgarys Flame big time. I wouldnt be surprised if they were forced to watch the rest of the playoffs from there giant houses.

umm sorry edmonton take pride in taking pictures of there after partys because people know they happen where as calgary has to try to prove to the world that they rule and are the best...and umm isnt calgary the 3rd place team who is gion to a 7th game with the 6th place ducks whoa rent that good even and wait even better yet didnt the oilers jsut beat the #1 team in the nhl.ya thats what i thought

go flames, and whyte ave or "the copper kilometer" as i have heard it be called is so fucking lame, way to copy 17th and the red mile, plus i saw shots from there and u had a few hundred people hanging out on the side walk, whereas we have 20,000+ fans all up and down 17th partying and having a kick ass time, ps edmonton smells and i hope we have a battle of alberta cause that would kick ass!

I live 2 blocks from Whyte was there a few minutes after the game ended. I ran to my buddy's house 2 blocks on the other side of Whyte and the whole way there I heard honking and yelling, on all 4 blocks. About 20 minutes after the game, people started flooding the streets and sidewalks from everywhere.
My favorite was the burning of a Calgary Flames flag being held onto by a running streaker. People weren't at Whyte before the game like they are on the Red Mile. It ended up being 10,000-12,000 people there. Not bad for our first round. This is Calgary's 5th including last season.
Oh and The only reason Calgary is even IN the playoffs is because of one player. Calgary has one of the worst 5 teams in the league without him.

you cant deny that the calgary flames have an enormous amount of fans. Here are some facts. The amount of flames jersies sold accounted for the highest percentage of the total amount of nhl jersies sold in the past year. Also redmile had 25-30 thousand people on it 2 years ago, which beleive me is more than four blocks. As the red mile WAS on the news in Ontario and Whyte ave. wasnt i find it hard to believe that the amount of people on whyte ave. succeeded the amount on the red mile. Moral of the story is that red mile is crazier than whyte ave, and flames have more fans than do oilers. Edmonton, we care more about our hockey team than you guys do, and big woop; oilers made it to second round flames didnt. there is always next year, watch out we will be coming for the cup.

Screw ypu, rig pigs. Ya we lost in the first round of the playoffs but its sure as hell better than being the only canadian team to not make the playoffs last year. Oh and Calgary girls are WAY hotter than Edmontonians. And edmonton copies calgary in everything.

Calgary has the most jerseys sold because its the most bandwagon team ever. Even out East they were selling more Flamers jersies than the home team's.
3 years ago you couldn't find a Flamer in Calgary.
I hope no one gets on the Oiler bandwagon. They have fans already who are louder than Calgary's, and we've been here from before 2004.

In the end hockey is just a sport. It sucks the flames lost, but what can ya do.

Calgary is 355 km South of Edmonton, that makes sense. But we get snow on the ground and we can go jibbing almost any day of the winter.
