he's really good, but i like jons style better because he is witty and natural, not forcing a character in the same way as colbert. stephen is still pretty funny tho.

The most offensive part is that today in the New York Times, I saw a story about the dinner and Colbert wasn't even mentioned. The article only talked about how Bush had a great time at the dinner.

haha what do you mean no one laughed? I would say that probably no one over the age of 50 laughed once, which is atleast half-3/4 of them. And then, only half of those people under 50 laughed because the other half is conservative. So alas. All that could have laughed, did.
I thought it was amazing. I still wonder whose idea it was to get Colbert. Someone totally wanted to fuck with Bush and co.

"more like getting punched in the head over and over"

and a graham cracker crust of corruption, basically a mallomar is what i'm describing.
On another side of the media reaction to this, it's got a few people pissed off.
I think somebody's earlier comment about the age difference having an effect on the reaction is dead on. My journalism professor, who is a hardened news-room bitch, thought it wasn't funny. I don't think you have to watch his show to tell he's being a deadpan idiot type (in a funny, purposeful way)

i can see how people didnt think it was funny. and think colbert is a "deadpan" idiot type. HOWEVER, i bet he'd rather be that than be one of the naive reporters who takes whatever the gov't says, and swallows it no questions asked. the stupid stuff is just part of his humor, making light of such serious situations, pretty much just another fuck you after stating the truth. plus the shit that bush and his admin. say are alot more rediculous than anything colbert tends to say, cause he tends to be joking
