i'm sure by now you've all seen pep's switch 90 to 270 revert at the JOI, if you haven't check it out in the top rated vid section. anyways i decided to show it to my physics teacher who happens to ski and he was completely baffled. he watched the 8 second clip for about 5 minutes over and over and he kept saying it was the "sickest" (yes he used the word sick) trick he had ever seen on skis and that it had to be the most difficult one ever too. he really couldn't come up with much of a scientific answer and he just watched in awe like the rest of us- that was a fun physics class
its really not defying physics. its just enough of a spin to stop then he uses his arms to wrap up a spin the other way. think of the way figure skaters use their arms when wrapping up spins, its the same physics as that.
my best answer would be that he almost looks like he pushed off with his leg, kinda used it as momentum to push himself around, with his leg further away from his body he could get more momentum and then spin with the leg and all other parts of his body close to the torsoe, watch it and tell me if you could see that (how he pushed with his leg, back and to his left to start the rotation the other way) maybe im just full of shit, i dunno?
i second the motion that u r dum. Do you know who you're talking about??? This is the one man who might be able match Pollard in terms of technical skills combined with doing shit off cliffs into powder. Also, it shows the insane amount of air sense and skill possessed by the man
Exactly... although its still ridiculous that he somehow decided to pull out of it by spinning right. And now because of one extraordinary near-mishap, kids across the world are going to be developing new tricks next year. it's gonna be ugly.
I think it's possible just because he was doing it switch. When you take off switch since ur looking over ur shoulder you automatically start to spin. And you could wind up one way and just use your loooking to start the spin the other way_(90). But I dunno.... he's jus tmagical.
i want to see someone take off switch and grab inside safety on the trailing foot while rotating 90-plus degrees... then abruptly change the grab to mute on the leading ski, tweak it out and rotate 450 the other direction to a switch landing.
did nobody ever see the movie 1999?
go watch that. theres some real rewinds in that. i believe it was JP who does them. 180 left then 180 right back to forwards...
its all possible its just core muscles.
no kiding, my fuckin grandma can do a 180 into the pow and make it look good.
Step 1- obtain wide powder skis
Step 2- propel yourself off the drop prefered
Step 3- start a slow rotaton of 180 degrees
Step 4- while in the spin spot your landing
Step 5- now lean forward and land keepig your tails out of the pow.
i would actually be very interested to see you do such a thing. it's not as simple as leaning forward so your tips don't catch. if you lean too far forward, then you are going to face slap and compress.
so... who do you ride in pow regular and who do you prefer to ride through powder switch? I mean, your mom is just starting to learn how to ride fakie...
i kinda got what you said,
if ya had not noticed it have been dumping every day in tahoe for the last week or so. = 1000's of fresh line.
i cant ski switch like pollard in the pow, no one can exect pep.
I just thought it was funny that you were claiming so hard and wrote that you know 'WHO' to ride in powder sw, not 'HOW'. No disrespect to your skills or anything, lol.
