San Jose all the way homies.
Tomorrow is what will make the whole thing interesting. Calgary cannot seem to score because Iginla is pretty much the only scoring threat and he is pressured hard every game and Anaheim is no pushover of a team, obviously, as they were going into the playoffs with quite a bit of momentum. If Anaheim wins, it means that the top 4 seeds in the western conference will be out, while if Carolina and Buffalo win, it will mean all the top seeds in the east will move on. Based on what has happened already, here are my predictions from the 2nd round till the end.
SJ-4
Col-2 SJ-4
SJ-?
Edm-4 Edm-1
Cal-3
SJ?
Ott-?
Buf-? Buf-?
Buf-?
NJ-4 NJ-?
Car-1
I can see San Jose in the NHL finals for sure.
They are Loaded... Solid Defense, 2 goaltenders who could start on any team out there: Nabokov and Toskala.. the likely MVP and Points leader: Thornton and the Goals leader: Cheechoo. Not to mention, Patrick Marleau is a savage who plays 2nd scoring line yet still owns bigtime and can throw up points like no tomorrow. Plus they have outright won what.. 12 of their last 14?
They are either hot, or they are freakin hot...
They can knock out any of the remaining western teams no problem... that first scoring line is sooooolid. No other team in the west has been able to outright stop them exept for Detroit and Dallas, and both of those guys have been knocked out by teams that San Jose has been able to beat this year: Edm, and Colo.
Buffalo and New Jersey will move on. I can see Buffalo being a big upset on Ottawa, not because I just want to see it happen, but because Buffalo is pretty powerful right now.
I cant tell who will win.. NJ or Buff. Both are so good. I'm going to just say buffalo because an Upset would be nice. Either way, the eastern finals will be between Ott, Buff, and NJ without a question. I just cant see Carolina moving on against new Jersey in Round two.. especially with out NJ killed NY.
I just am going to say it will be San Jose vs. Buffalo in the finals. I would love to have San Jose win it, but hockey is as predictable as the weather...
I have high hopes for my Sharks though... They havent won a cup yet... and they have been around since 1991.. its about time.
Then again.. the Sabers havent won it as far as I can remember, the hurricanes used to be in Hartford, and as a franchise they certainly havent won it.. and Ottawa hasnt won it in ages.
I just want to see someone other than Edmonton, Montreal, or New Jersey take the cup. New Jersey seems to be the only one that has the outright potential to win it. Lets hope for a San Jose v. Buffalo finals. That would surely be fun wouldnt it?
:D
