yeah its by Hunter S. Thompson and its about his fucked up drug trip to las vegas with that mexican lawyer dude....."WE CANT STOP HERE!!!THIS BAT COUNTRY!!!" "I fear tomorrow is going to be one of those hellishly intense introspective nightmares!"
The book was amazing and funny. If I remeber correctly the movie followed the storyline more accurately than most book-turn-movies. I like the hotel lobby part when he's trippin balls thinking everyones a reptile and all bloody.
I never really got it. I guess I dont do enough drugs but he was defintally fucked. I got though about 1/10 of the book before I lost it at a pool. Maby I will read it some time.
definitely read the book. although the movie did an amazing job of being true to the book, there are certain things that don't get conveyed as well on film. there's a lot more to the story than just two guys tripping.
man that book is soo good, i love the way that guy writes, i wish he was still alive. I'm doin that book for my isu and i read to part II in one day and then wrote a 6 page essay on it
also a quality movie though if i remeber correctly just based on a short by HST. i think bill murry does a more acurate portrail.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole multi colored collection of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.
Sounds like big trouble. You're going to need plenty of legal advice before this thing is over. As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with no top. And you'll need the cocaine. Tape recorder for special messages. Acapulco shirts. Get the hell out of L.A. for at least 48 hours.
first watch of the movie and i hated it. now im reading the book, which i am about halfway through and it has already made it onto my top 5 books ever list, and i am planning on rewatching the movie. and i cant wait. johnny depp wass awesome, and benicio del toro as well.
the book blows the movie out of the water, but if you really want some quality thompson literature read fear and loathing on the campaign trail 72-76 great book, read the rum diaries too. there is so many others. then when youre done with all of that read gonzo by jan wrener chronological biography of hunter... most insane thing in print bar none. hunter s thompson was the craziest person ever, fear and loathing may as well be a childrens story
