Hand Drawn Skiing Sequences Thread

I started doing these waaaaay long ago, usually in class (which didnt please my parents when my history teacher brought this up). I just got an old scanner from my dad this week, and I thought I'd scan some of them and start a collection here on NS.

Other people must have these, so feel free to add to what I've got. Creativity and outrageousness will get you fame here, as well as any artwork thats better than my shitty ability.

Your proportions are kinda off.

Normally, the skiers head should fit about 7-8 times int he actual body size. My heads are exaggeratedly big usually, but keep that in mind when you draw.
The neck... well, im not one to talk because i don't draw them usually, but the neck should be about 2/3rds to 3/4s of the size of the head, when looking straight on.
When it comes to the body, you should aim slender, and then add baggy to it afterwards.
Hands, well, you can focus on 4 fingers if you're no good at them (like me), it looks better (see simpsons, family guy...)
Overall, have a general idea of where you want it to go, and then be patient.

another little one i did in class.  took some inspiration from peps cliff drop in ski porn.  360 critical as ryno stated, but i was goin for nose grab although it didnt really turn out that way haha.

haha, yeah, i dont know what i was thinking with the no grab thing.  haha, oh well my newer ones are getting better though its still really hard to draw the rotation.

Oh man, I've been soooooo busy with classes this quarter, I only have a bunch of half finished ones. I gotta sit down and finish a few of them this weekend. Nice sequence, the detail in the terrain is great. Keep it up!

thanks man, that comment means a lot from the god of sequences himself.  i think the rocks look a little funky though.  they look like they are just stuck on there and floating but not really a part of the hill.  also i think the rotation is a little weird too, but damn they are hard to draw, but im getting better haha.

I do a lot of these in class, and a girl I usually sit with was bored, so she added some art of her own. The bunny has potential in my opinion.

Ok, so my idea was to make a terrain, and then trace some copies off of it, to produce a few sequences on the same feature from the same angle, just with different tricks. Heres one...

Yeah, perspective didn't work out so well, and so the guy ends up going really really really high. I think anyone would shit their pants getting that high off the ground on skis, and on top of a ridge too...

Switch cork 9 mute to nose. I'm telling you, combo grabs are going to totally be in this year.




I'm trying to cut down on the sizes of the image, so I've been messing with the scanner properties a little. These are reduced in size, so tell me if I pixelated too much detail or something.

ummmm pretty much all ridiculous as usual.  thats a sick idea doing the terrain and doing mutlitple tricks on it.  my fave is the second trace on that sketch, incredible shading, it really pops off the page.

Haha, its true, its like being in a world thats constantly lagging.

And those sketches are really damn nice. Waz, I've commented before on that, but it needs to happen again - crazy ass detail. And the oil/watercolor stuff - I dont know how you people do that, whenever I tried it always came out looking like I had sneezed something colorful on the canvas. Haha, and I love Patty's ski dudes! You're getting Escher-ish with that drawing hand, its very cool!

what about showing a handdrawn sequence with the skiers name on it and then turn into the real one..? that would be a cool segment intro..

yeah, and you normally have a picture in your head of what you want it to look like but 90% of the time it doesnt end up like that.  i always get frustrated with that sorta stuff.  and dued, your last one is insane.  i loved how you drew in the hand, and i really like the style that you draw your skiers in.  kinda cartoony, but kinda not, i think its awesome.
