Good ski colleges?

So waht are some good colleges that have some good access to nice mtns? WHere do you guys all go? Wat do you recomend?

my brother goes to St. Mikes in VT. they get a $25 season pass to Sumggs and its only like 45 mins away i guess thats not too bad

fuckin right. i'm over this place!

I'm looking at university of denver, gonzaga, and CU denver/boulder, and maybe maybe university of utah. if I have to stay on the east coast i'd go to UVM or st. anslem (NH). I havent thought about it as much as I should by now though so it's all very open, but yeah those are the top ones for me right now.

youre thinking of Colorado MOUNTAIN College, and yes, those are close.

Colorado is a pretty good choice. Your options are wide. I would recommend a smaller college, as you will enjoy your experience a whole lot more. At a school like CU or DU you'll have to devote a whole day to skiing at a marginal at best Summit County big box ski area. Whereas at a school like WSC or FLC you can go to class in the mornings and still get a rocking 5 or 6 hours in at the ski area. Your best options-

CU Boulder- dont waste your time
CSU Boulder- same, ok, this basically goes for any college on the front range.

Fort Lewis in Durango- tons of insane backcountry, Wolf Creek, T-Ride, Silverton. Bigger town with a small-town feel. Lots of mexicans and indians, but if you have at least 1/8th indian blood in your (documented) then your tuition is like 70% off or something ridiculous like that! Good parties and some good herb too.

Western State in Gunnison- lots of good backcountry, Crested Butte, Monarch. Small town feel, lots of good parties and insnae kronic. Small and cold in the winter.

Colorado Mtn College Leadville- Right near (30 mins) Summit County one way or Eagle/Vail the other way. Realllly small town, kind of backwater, but good if you want to grow a lot of weed or mushrooms. Major sausage fest alert.

Colorado Mtn College Glenwood- Great party town, Sunlight is far but they hook up students phat. The Four Aspens are about 35-40 min down the road, Vail/BC are 45-60, and Summit is 90-120. Backcountry is possible but not that close (McClure, Aspen area, Fryingpan, Vail Pass). Decent herb, and Los Jilbertos 24 hr burrito shop.

Colorado Mtn College Steamboat- Great for skiing, its so close to the ski area its disgusting. Often overbooked, they had to sleep three to a room last year in the dorms. Good herb, good party scene, good people in Steamboat. Kind of out in the middle of nowhere. Good backcountry.

Adams State- dont go to Adams unless you like waaaay ass-backwards hick towns with a lot of mexicans and a weird smell. Wolf Creek is an hour and its literally the only thing for miles. Monarch is like two hours.

Mesa State- dont go to Mesa State.

thats about it. Dont go to CU, CSU, DU, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado College, UNC, or CU Pueblo, because these are just too far away from anything to be worthy. Plus theyre all huuuuge schools, and if thats what you want, dont be stupid and go to Univ of Utah. The big schools here cant compete as far as close skiing goes.

sugarloaf, you should consider Gonzaga. i have lived here in spokane all my life and am in the same boat of picking a college. Kind of running out of time too. Anyway, Gonzaga is a really cool school, somewhat small, but its in a residential area right near the city so the parties are pretty damn good. It has good academics and as far as skiing goes there are about four mountains near by. You can ski 49 degrees north, Mount Spokane which is about 45 minutes away, Silver which is about an hour away, and Schweitzer which is about an hour 45 but totally worth it. Schweitzer is by far the best mountain and there are kids going up every weekend so getting a ride isn't hard. Just some thoughts.

Are you serious? CU is one of the best skiing schools in the country. Winter Park has great snow and is expanding next year. Mary Jane kicks ass, best tree skiing period. Its only 1:20 away. A-Basin and Loveland also have excellent snow and are MUCH less crowded, they are about 1:10 away. Then if you wanna get a good day of park there is Breck and Keystone (1:20 away). Then Vail is a little bit up the road.... 2 hours away. And you can hit Keystone's A-51 park at night after ur classes are over. Oh yea if you want to do some BC then go to Loveland pass and build a kicker.

Anyways Gunnison sucks a fat ugly choad(sp). Its not even a real college. CU has 30,000 students and babes. and you are in Boulder, anyone that has been here and is not a raging right wing fuck nugget knows boulder is a sick college town.

def CU, my cuz goes there and he skis every day after classes. colorado mt college at steamboat is also sick, you can work your schedule around skiing. dont forget montana state university, the skiin aint bad there either. on the east coast, UVM is near smuggs, stowe, sugarbush, bolton, buke, mad river, and killington (bit of a drive). some maine schools too.

I am going to let you all in on a little secert. Weber State in Ogden Utah is the place to be. It is cheap living and you have Snowbasin and Powder Mountain in your back yard. And those are 2 of the best hidin' secrets in Utah.

university of maine at farmington, 30 minutes from sugarloaf and 45 away from Sunday River. Academics are decent depending on your major, not to mention they have the SKI INDUSTRIES PROGRAM. Look into it.

leave it to someone from boulder to get uppity about this.

that is the exact reason people shouldnt go to boulder, you all are waaaaay too high ang mighty. the cu attitude is the worst attitude ive ever seen anywhere, and everyone who lives there has it. a couple of my best friends from high school went to cu and they totally got it, and they were way chill to begin with.

cu sucks and anyone from there can suck my balls.

gunnison is a shitty town, but at least we have a real mountain to ski at.

and los jilbertos is awesome, you never think about class the next morning when youre really drunk at 3:30 am and its the only shit open

University of Nevada, Reno. 1/2 hr away from Northstar or Mt. Rose, and 45 minutes away from Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. Plus there is Kirkwood, Heavenly, and Sierra if you want to make the longer trip to the southshore resorts. Weekend trips to Mammoth are a little over three hours. 16,000 students.

Gotta rep CAL POLY POMONA, very close to Mt Baldy, Mt High, and Big Bear (aprox. 45 min away from Mt High). And for the longer weekends and less tight schedule (2 classes during the winter to free up time for skiing and go hard the rest of the year), only 5-6 hours away from June Mt (sister mt to Mammoth and only $99 for a season pass if you get it pre-season) and Mammoth.

In the area there's also Cal State San Bernardino, UCLA, USC, Mt Sac (jc), and Cal State Bakersfield is closer to Mammoth and June.

CU Boulder is a great choice. Sure the drive is 2 hrs, but hey there is ALWAYS people who are willing to split gas driving with you. great parties and boulder is an f'in sweet town. Indian Peaks is a great place for BC that is about an hour outside of town. Go to U of Utah if you want 3.nothing beer...

CO native here who opted for MT. If you are a goodstudent, go to CC in the springs, they have the back highway to Breck, like 50 minutes, and you aren't stuck with a degree from Colorado community Mountain college or wasted state. MSU-Bozeman is cool because: Deep snow, short drives, and great scene that is laid back. I would only go to Colorado for the great drugs and girls, that is what I miss.

^ I went to Colby. Its fun but in the middle of nowhere. There are a few kids there that ride park, but not really. i went there for a year and i'm now transferring to either CU Boulder or UVM. BUT the campus has REALLY sic urban... like beautiful, easy to set-up dfd's

don't go there. That area sucks in terms of fun. The only good thing is skiing. UNR and U of U are some of your best bets for having fun in college and having exellent skiing very close

dude thanks for that. I'm headed out there this summer sometime to check the campus out, because I've never even been to washington. as far as moutnains and snow goes, anything out there is probably better than what I ski right now.
