god we only got the day oiff school when it was too damn hot to do anything - over 45 deg C (thats what, like 120F?) and we got 1/2 the day off

Yea, that is some bullshit.

i think they gave them a day off because the weather is usually rainy and crappy and they wanted to give the kids a day off to enjoy the nice day

It usually happens here in Burlington VT at Saint Mike's College. When we get the first real spring day, practically no one goes to classes...or at least I didn't.


But I love the idea of a "sun day."
