ya skate boarding is mad hard an i respect the guys who r good at it but i dont think its that cool su of the rails r but jumping down stairs and flipiung a board i no its crazy hard but i dont c it that cool
skating is so sick but ya u can fuck ur ankles bad. i destroyed my ankle bailing on a stair. i bent it completly up and couldnt walk it sucked. but skating is awesome
I personally like to rollerblade because it helps me for skiing. I have done skateboarding before but I don't find it as fun. All of my friends rollerblade anyways here in Quebec.
ya, skateboarding is so fun tood o, but it is even more fun to watch old school skateboard vids with the likes of Tony Alva and the young tony hawk. All that shit is so insane. I also think big wave surfing is radical, with guys like Shane Dorian and Mike Parsons, Garrett McNamara. Man, these sports are sick, and i think that all boardsports actually help with your balance for skiing and definitely helps with your style, I think it is important to be involved in other sports and outdoor stuff because it is also the healthy thing to do. YOu can be a great skier but you will only be in good anaerobic shape. YOu gotta do other things to help your aerobic shpae like running biking, and swimming. SO dont think if your in good ski shape, your set, because my dad knows someone whos good friend died who was in excellent ski shape, and the guy had a heart attack. SOrry i went off on a little rant, but please take into consideratino that other sports are important for health, and can help your views and style of sking in the long run. I like to jsut sit back and watch other sports, surfing for example, and compare them to skiing. it is a very great way to get in touch with skiing and the uniqueness of our sport.
skateboarding super fun to fool around on with some friends. Like i used to skateboard everyday but i stopped and now im starting up again and it so much fun.
Ahh bra, I like so used to skate but I kept bruising my shins and scraping my knees trying to get good at handrails- hella frusterating! But then I realized that I could just drive an hour away to the nearest mountain, load my truck with snow, drive back to the same rail that I cant do on my skateboard, build a wooden start ramp and a nice big lip up to the rail, make sure I have a soft snowy landing, put on all my freshest ski gear, call my friends to come film how cool I am, and then the rail is like totally do-able! Plus its like way easier to do on skis and i dont get hurt so bad when I fall down now.
I hate when skateboarders say they can almost tre or something and then you go skate with them and all they do is flip the board in some weird rotation and never land a thing. I mean the board almost never lands near them
I hope the next time you pussies find yourself in the middle of the 'urbs setting up your next urban handrail photoshoot you take the time to contemplate how much better skateboarders have to be at rails and then wonder why you are in the middle of a flat city with your skis on scoping something that you should be doing on a skateboard
nothing against sakteboarding, but people don't really slide the same size rails in skateboarding and skiing. And you can also kick a skateboard away, unlike skis or a snowboard. I would say that rails which would be considered magazine worthy in each of the sports are equally difficult in respect to the sport.
I used to skate like three years ago I just started up again today and I hate it. I can still drop in and ollie and kickflip but its just not as fun as it used to be. I keep thinken to myself I want to go skiing maybe its just cause I got to get into again and learn some new shit. I kinda want to buy some blades but all my boys will make fun of me for fruitbooting.
what!!! have u seen the dc movie. danny ways section. if u haven't u defently shuld. he bs720 ove 70ft gap straight into a quarter pipe the size of a 5 story building atlest and went 30 something feet out of it. oh yeah he jumped fs360 the great wall of china.
I hope the next time you go skating, you take the time to contemplate why the fuck you're trying to jump up onto a metal handrail and slide down stairs on a piece of wood with wheels. Then maybe you'd realize how ridiculous the whole concept of action sports are, and to seriously think that one is better than the other is idiotic.
Basically, it's all just dicking around trying to have fun, and to judge other people and sports is forgetting what it's all about anyways. Try and remember that we're just trying to have fun and taking it seriously is missing the whole point.
Longboard skateboarding is sweet. Its a nice way to go fast on hills in the summer (but the feeling resembles snowboarding more than skiing). Plus, its really easy to pick up. Anyone who uses a short board and does tricks and grinds gets mad props from me.
ive been skiing my whole life, and ive skateboarded like 2 years, and hand rails with skis are probably just as hard as on a skateboard to me, the sliding part is probably a little harder on a skateboard which lets us do bigger cooler rails, but it is much harder to get on a handrail with skis unless you have a huge jump, so we arent as versitile as skateboards.
i can ollie mabye 2 ft if im lucky, and some of my friends can do more, but on skis i find it really hard to pop any more than like a foot. and with skateboarding you can get a ton more speed. yeah it is easier to do if you have a big jump, but any jump bigger than like a foot is cheating. going from no jump at all is hard as fuck.
