Damm I just drove from Vermont to Colorado by my self in 28 hours (would have been faster but Ohio had bad roads and was stop and go, and I had to take a 4 hour nap to make it) What are the Best Mountins to hit up in Colorado? I am here for about a week I am in Colorado Springs right now but eventualy have to end up in Steamboat and then driving to Alpine Meadows CA (gonna have to hit up Squaw on the way) and maybe Heavenly, then off to Montana for another week, then either back to the east or who knows depends on how much money i have left. Please let me know the places to hit and where to hit them. Thanks

I took a road trip in january with my friend from upstate NY to Steamboat, CO in 30hrs, we too got killed in Ohio (must be the shitty weather capital or sumthing). Steamboat and Vail have had the best snow in Co.

I live in Grand Junction And I would recommend you hit loveland for some good pow. They've always got good snow-its the elevation. Next, go to vail cuz it is on the way. Then go to Aspen. Hit Ajax for good terrain, Snowmass for park and good cruisers.
Anyway, you'll be golden anywhere. The whole state got hit hard last week. Rabbit Ears pass got over 6 ft so we've been getting dumped on.
Have Fun

I'm also looking to go as cheap as possible so the Rabbit Ears pass will have my name all over it! Unless I find someone with free passes to the other places I will only get to hit maybe one or two.

I don't know too much about it, but from driving over Rabbit Ears there's not too much easy access skiing there. I would guess if you have a snowmobile or the desire to hike you might find something.
For easy access backcountry look at Loveland Pass or Berthoud Pass, both along the I-70 corridor pretty much. Watch out for the avalanche danger though. Some people got caught in one on Berthoud yesterday. Always check the Colorado Avalanche Information Center's website (http://www.geosurvey.state.co.us/avalanche/) Right now the danger is so high, I'd stay away.
For bargain skiing try Eldora, (yes it's lame, but it's cheap and they rarely check tickets midweek) Loveland, or Arapahoe Basin.

if you don't want to spend any money go to loveland pass. that shit is pretty sick. vail and snowmass are pretty expensive if you're going to buy lift tickets but they are by far the best mountains in colorado.

are you competing in qualifiers? cause that schedual sounds like the same as some ppl on my team that are going to nationals...welcome to colorado when it's actually snowing. I'd offer to go up w/ you to loveland pass but i broke my leg last wednesday...so that's out of the question. anyway, be careful in the backcountry this week. conditions have been sketch w/ a lot of new snow building up on a weak base layer. They were bombing a lot last weekend on berthoud and we were stuck at the bottom of the pass while they cleaned up a massive slide. like 30+ ft deep drifts that slid all the way to the road. not stuff you want to play w/. steamboat is going off right now so if you're gonna buy lift tickets def. hit it. also, winter park/mary jane has some sick bumps and nice kickers. email me if you want more info

colorado's the place to be. if you want park, hit breck. if you want real skiing, hit vail. for great skiing in general, steamboat's where it's at. the boat is probably my favorite place to ski.

the rabbit ears lodge in steamboat is the place to stay though, sooo cheap and not too bad for the price- and theirs a hot springs across the street from it, helps relax after a hard day skiing. sounds fun though, good luck with the rest of your trip!
