psych, Bode is an asshole that doesn't take what he gets paid to do seriously and therefor shouldn't get paid to do it

I'm sorry that Bode HAS FUN with his job. If you hate him for not taking it seriously, than you must really hate Cedric Gracia.

i hate him because he comes to races hungover and totally unprepared. there is a difference between having fun and not taking your job seriously. he does not act like a professional

Cedric Gracia is a legend. Most amazing, just, person ever. Let alone the fact that he rides bikes with so much ease, he's so cool, but he doesn;t taking his racing too seriously, but whatever.

He's the equivelant to Tanner Hall in freeskiing... love him or hate him you have to respect their abilities. Both sure could have represented the sport better considering the stages they have been put on!

Then you don't know Cedric. Did you know he also stays out at bars until 2 a.m. before major races? It's a problem that has kept him from preforming at his best and taking over the race scene.

wow, bode bails on atomic or vice versa? What a odd cat that Bode Miller.

i dont know too much about cedric and thats why im only talking about bode. the difference between the two though is ski racing is more "proper" or whatever you want to say. its more respected old fachioned according to the majority of the audiences that view it. mountain bike racing is more "extreme and rebellious" and therefore the viewers don't look down on those things as much. if cedric's sponsers were to drop him because of his habits then they would have a legit reason though

Haha no dude, just stop talking. You've already proven to all of us you don't hate him for the reasons of acting of unprofessinoal, but of reasons beyond that. The reason people like Cedric and Bode still have major sponsors is because of the fact that wether on the ski hill, or off it (vise versa with biking trails) they are going to be popular with people. It's that social skill and their ability to stand out in a crowd as well as preform great that makes them a very valuable asset to the sponsors.

Yeah, he might be having fun with his job, but he's putting himself and others in danger. I mean what if some drunk skier came down and hit you, I mean I'd be pissed. I don't know about you.

"Old fashioned ski racing tradition" has nothing to do with anything. It seems kinda hypocritical to demand that Bode should act "more respectable" because he's a skier. Comeon man, this is a newschool skiing website! Everybody on this website is an exception to the view that skiing is old fashioned and proper.

if you think that i hate bode because i think that all racers are stupid then you are wrong, because i grew up racing. I don't see how you can't understand that coming to races hungover and not taking things you are getting paid for is ok, whether its ski racing or mountain biking

but bode is not a "newschool" skier. just becuase i ride twins doesnt change my views on how professionals should act.

Plain and simple, I don't think that you hate him for racing and that the athletes are getting paid to PROMOTE THE SPONSOR AND THEIR PRODUCTS. They are not necessarily paid to preform and win everything they enter.

true they are also paid to be posterboys for their products but you dont get the same exposure unless you stay on top. bad press can only get you so far, just look at Dennis Rodman.

Hahaha completely irrevelant case that Dennir Rodman. I'm going to let you in on a secret man; press is press, it doesn't matter good or bad because either is exposure. Bode (I don't know if you have even kept up at all with the current race scene) has had some really, really strong finishes so I highly doubt he will have a trouble staying as one of the best racers in the world while obtaining exposure.

we'll see how he does if he keeps his habits up, and good press is better than press

other way around- he dropped them. he signed with the company that first sponsored him back when he raced BMX. Anne-Caroline signed for them three years ago (i think), so they're now on the same team again.

the thing i hate most about bode miller is that during an interview after the olympics he said that he didnt go there to try and win. he only wanted to go for the olympic experience and to have fun. thats fuckin bullshit...there are so many other people that want to go to the olympics to try and win. he's just taking away the chance from someone else just so he can stay out and party all the time and then do shitty in every race. he came to the olympics unprepared both mentally and physically and he didnt even care. screw bode.

^Even though he said he didn't really care, he was still (theoretically) the top US contender for gold. I don't think he should've been replaced with a worse skier just because wanted to have fun at the olympics. Logically, prepared or not, I'd take my chances on the faster skier.

Sports in general should be about having fun. There are many racers and freeskiiers out there who are doing it for the money or because it the cool thing to do. When part of the industry steps up and sponsors someone who is skiing for the fun of it, something has gone right.
