Solomon Bindings

I can't figure out why people hate them so much. I was skiing on them for about 3 years and they fucking rocked. So light too. I keep hearing "oh, they pop out" and "Fucking bindings. grrrr."

Just a little hint for those of you with the problem of your binding double ejecting. Its called the DIN setting. Its on the front and back of the binding pieces. Just turn the giant screw and *VOILA* your bindings hold your feet in alot better! I suggest you use this technique on all your binding needs. If your brakes are falling down, tighten them up. THere are 3 screws for this one.

Just a little heads up on how to use your binding correctly.

If you were giving advice for everyone who complains about their salomon bindings, you could at least said to tighten the wings; that is the most common problem. But you go ahead and try and point out the obvious.

s912's and below suck....s914's are okay....916 and all models up are sick.
Plus the old equipe 900/977/997 are also very sick. Claiming all salomon bindings blow is ridiclous.

Salomon S916's are good bindings, but anything below fucking blow.

and yes i realize there is such thing as a DIN setting and even if you crank them up all the way they fuckin break off your feet or pop out prematurly.

I think any binding made for gapers sucks, salomons racestock bindings are some of the best in the world. Low end 150$ plastic-ass bindings suck regardless of company. Every company makes a shit binding, My first year of skiing (5 years ago) I didn't know shit about bindings and I figured the lighter the better, so I bought some rossi axium light 100's and I ended up breaking them about 6 times in two months (nothing major just ripping the break out and shit like that, but those things are fuckign filmsy. I've ripped the heel piece on salomon s8'10s in half.

The only good bindings out there as far as I'm concerned are the Look/Rossi racestock FKS155/P15/FKS185/p18's, The salomon racestock s916/s920, Tyrolia freeflex 17+, and marker bindings although I've never owned a pair consistently test accurate in simulated crashes (in a ski shop) moreso than any other bindings company supposedly.

I'm waiting right now for the third time for my warrenty parts to come back in.

Poeple don't seem to have problems with them if they don't land switch often.

Working at a shop, most of the bindings that come back broken are S912 (reg and Ti) because of landing backwards. The upward force of your back heel when you're landing a little too foreward pulls the bindings up.

Too tight of a din will rip the rear binding right out of the track (or ski in some cases).

But when it's too low, the bindings will release and the brake catches the snow. Not made for catching backwards at such speeds, it will tear foreward and ruin the brake.


But those are my experiences.

same shit happened to me with my rossi's literally like once a week. I just got a ton of those plastic plates that hold it in because I was replacing them constantly, any switch eject (which they loved to do) would rip the break off.

hahaha true. I rode s14s for a couple weekends this year with the DINs cranked to about 47 and they ejected all the time. I finally changed bindings after getting sick of pulling my ski off every time I tweaked a mute.

i've had s912s and no problems whatsoever. and dins do not go up to 47^. i had mine on 6 and i popped out maybe 10 times on crashes.

Lets check our priorites list, pre release mmeeehhh not that bad, just pisses you off, cranking your DIN up and not releasing when you need to torn acl, i would much rather have to hike up the mt 100 feet to get my ski that just fell off then have to get reconsructive surgery on my knee and have 6 months of rehab with NO SKIING, be responsible please.

You haven't ridden salomons, have you? My big problem with them was when I'd break the 20mph mach .0000000001 speed barrier, I got to see one or both of my skis ride away from me in any direction they chose. The design on the lower end salomons is flawed because there are too many moving parts that come loose, as long as they keep that design it will never be a good binding.

i cranked my DIN to 10(highas it goes)
scooted the hell peice ALL the way in
tighted the wings
tighted every god damn bolt/screw on the bindings
and guess wat??no ill tell you..THEY FUCKING POP OFF LIKE NO OTHER, SALOMON BINDINGS CAN SUCK MY DICK

Same here no problems either. It also seems like a TON of people still buy or have bought salomons even though almost everyone on here talks about how horrible they are. And, I doubt its because EVERYONE didn't know. Someone seems to be always talking about the problems they had with them, at least as long as I have been viewing this site (longer than my member date). Are they just cheap compared to everything else??? Just wondering this is?

Only the toe peice has changed for next year. The back is gonna be the same.

So Salomon bindings are gonna have another year of sucking.

Wow, sometimes you guys just can't see the forest through the trees. Clearly all of you are grossly obese, and should probably drop 300 pounds before you expect your bindings to hold. Maybe if you weren't so overweight your bindings would be perfect. I am a perfect example: I used to weigh 620 pounds, and my bindings would always prerelease. Now, 1/4 ton lighter, my bindings work just fine! You can do it! Jenny Craig can help!

Yah i over looked that aspect of it but who here has ever skied a chute where you rag doll to death other then the select few, i was talking when people turn it all the way up because it popped off once when they had a hard landing in the park,

THATS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE S810, that is the most worthless piece of shit binding on the market, you cant compare the bindings and how well they perform unless you have skied the race stock, p18 s916, i would say the weight limit on the s810 is a good 105 pounds for a average to advanced skier.

One of the reasons that I see so many broken ones is because it's the best selling binding out there, so there are more out in the hands of the poeple to break.

But Salomon wasn't thinking of Stomped Switch landings at all when they made the "rear track design". The only problem these bindings really have are in the heel.

Whereas rossi/look bindings focused more design for riding in the park and lots of aggressive riding. But I have heared pleanty of rumors about toe piece troubles (coming loose).

So logicly, if you buy a Salomon Toe Piece, and A Rossi heel, you will have the best binding there is.

(that's a joke, don't harsh)

Most people dont have salomon bindings set up so that it fits your boot perfectly. If you look there are way more adjustments to be made than just the DIN. I crank my Salomon 711's up to 11 and they work alright but i never feel very secure. Very light weight though.

my s912s get all loose, no matter how high i set the din. When i shake my feet on the lift, i feel the ski jiggle around. Its disconcerting.

Check your forward pressure, wing, and toe height adjustments. Your problem has nothing to with the DIN.
