For those of you who are students at CU...

We're having a general info meeting for the 2006/2007 season. Everyone is welcome!

Basically...Julie and I are the officers and if you don't join, you are not cool. And you don't get to meet the 2 lady shredders of the century.
Even if you don't want to join, come to the info meeting and meet a bunch of chill/amazing skiers...or message me or Julie for more info.

why dont you guys go rape some more girls at a football party.

cu sucks and so does boulder. the only good skiing is like three hours plus away.

boycott cu and their "University Of Colorado Freeride Ski Team" (caps and as many titles as possible, makes it look professional).

Seriously, props to you girls for trying, but CU just sucks ass too much.

I could not care less about what you think of CU or Boulder. But shit talking about a freeride ski team some of us are involved with is plain ridiculous. Most colleges and universities don't even have ski teams. The ones lucky enough simply have racing teams. The rest just have an informal ski club. So, before you continue bashing away about how much CU sucks, remember that we have a freeride ski team. We get funding from the school to ski. We get excused from class to ski.

dude don't be a tool, i can assure you that the freeride team was totaly involved with the raping girls...

the only good skiing is like an hour and a half away, unless you like getting up for your day of skiing at like 10.

this whole thread was to get people who are coming to CU to check out the freeride team not to hear you bitch and shit talk about skiing.

We became a team a bunch of years ago when a couple of former US Ski Team members and Olympians wanted to do something for the sport. It was originally a mogul team and still has a hard core group of bump skiers. Now, there's really three groups within the team: moguls, park and big mountain. There's also two levels: competitive and recreational.

For a few years, we were part of the athletic department with the rest of CU's varsity sports. It's hard to stay a part of the athletic department when your sport is not an NCAA sanctioned sport and when there are no collegiate events to compete in. While we are no longer part of the athletic department, we still receive some funding from the school.

Everyone who wants to compete pretty much does it whenever he or she wants to and in whatever events he or she wants to. Someone just about always has a video camera on hand.

Say there is an event I want to ski in on a weekday. I fill out a form listing what classes I am going to miss and the forms get sent to my professors. So, the missed class does not get counted as an unexcused absence if my professor takes attendance (which most do, especially in smaller classes and recitations). The captains/officers (myself and igotgame) are in charge of these forms. Our coaches are also happy to e-mail professors to tell them what's up. If you have to miss an exam, sometimes a coach will even proctor it while you're on the road.

No, we're not a varsity sport since freeride skiing is not a sanctioned sport by the NCAA.

eh julie, you guys have any interaction with the snowboard team as well? if so...you know sam woolf ? you probbly do just from jacki but thought id pop the question. from what ive heard from him the shit is raaad, the whole group went on a rediculously sick trip to europe this winter.

its just going to be another pros only club with the jibij crew and the olenicks and harveys posse....whack. theyre all going to be in it and then everyone else will be too intimidated to join.

Harvey's posse is the olenicks and they don't ski with us. Just because the Olenicks live in Boulder doesn't mean that they are on the team. Why would 2 professional skiers want to be on a college ski team? Exactly. Although it looks like you are the one who is too intimidated of skiers better than yourself, it is proven that if you ski with those better than you, you progress faster. We're not trying to give out the wrong impression, just recruit people who are chill, like to have a good time, and like to drop it like its hot on the hill.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
