Had a hernia OP when I was 18. I think I got it from wrestling. Anyways: They inserted a post-card sized plastic mesh which sort of grows together with other tissues, making it stronger that before. Other methods where they just sow it shut are not as strong i've herd.
I had full anathstetics so i was out for first 12 hours. When I woke up great pain! Hurts like hell to laugh or cough(for about two weeks). Stayed at hospital for about 3-4 days. Was walking about on the second day though. I am left with a scar diagonal starting just above Snoopy. Lack of felling just below the scar.... Still everything works, thank goodness, even though in the release papers they said they would take no responsibility.
Full recovery after 6 weeks!
Moderate skiing after 3 weeks.
i had a hernia and i ignored it for a while cause it didnt hurt and it ended up causing a vericouse vein in my left nut. That didnt hurt either but i got surjury and i was back home in 1 day and sat around and didnt do much for about a weel.
