So last night was my first car accident! I was coming home from the casinos in La Center, WA and my friend was driving his A4. He was mad because he lost $100 playing blackjack that night and we didnt talk much on the way home. we were going the speed limit most of the way until we got back near portland.
we were merging from one freeway to another, the turn was kinda sharp, and all of a sudden the back end started to slide out. it was only a little at first becuase its all-wheel drive even though we were doing 90-95. the roads were kinda wet and it started to slide a little more. matt, the kid driving, had never slid his car around too much before and over corrected. the car hooked and whipped back the other way, sending us spinngin across four lanes. luckily there was nobod else on the road at the time or we would have been fucked. we slammed into the curb and bounced off back into the far left lane. luckily, nobody was hurt and the car still ran. we managed to drive it off to the side even though the front left wheel, the one that hit the curb, was puched all the way back up against the fender well. his suspension and control arms are all fucked up and bent. luckily that was the only damage to the car.
After being scared shitless (spinning across the freeway at 80+ is not fun), i have been driving quite a bit more conservatively. i am glad that none of us were injured and i hope that none of you have to go through this in order to learn a lessons about driving fast and when to do it. it was late, the roads were wet, and we shouldn't have been going that fast.
