Building rails and boxes

does anyone build their own boxes or rails....do you also have any plans or ideas...i am planning on doing some welding this summer...any ideas would be appreciated...i have thought about putting a small business together...building rails and boxes for skiing/snowboarding/snowskating...good idea? gimme some input...

we made one outta wood and lexan...does the trick and it was cheap and not too heavy (one person can carry it)

I've made a couple, your idea for a small business will probably fail. Most kid wouldn't be able to afford a custom built rails. Steel is really expensive. And resorts either make their own rails or have a proffesional welder do them.

thats a very nice set-up...did you get metal from scrap yards...i have metal around my house that i could use..but that set-up has way more metal than i have..nice job

they take about half a day to a day to build. I use metal that i find in random places and they aren't really for sale, but u can make me an offer

Steel is pretty expensive. A ski resort will pay anywhere upward from 500 bucks to make a simple rail.

i built a 10 foot c rail just outta wood and pvc. i also made a 10' flat rail from wood and pvc.

It's lexan.

I got the sheet from a hockey rink that didnt want it. Its the clear shit they put over the ad's on the boards.


If we ever get our ass in gear, we will have 2 of those boxes...maybe a lil kink action for switchups

i made a rail last year, outta shit from my garage, it was pretty chun, n it broke after like 3 sessions, but i got a new flat rail thing, so me n my buddy might go inot our shop at school n build it

ya, keep an eye out at local rinks for renovations to the boards, they usually do something like that in summer when its off season for hockey. If nothing turns up just find the maintainence dude (probably Zamboni driver) and ask if they have any old (maybe broken) sheets of puckboard.
