Alta or Snowbird Student Pass?

With a season pass to snowbird you can get a $20 day pass to alta and vise versa. I thought I would take advantage of this deal all the time(i have a pass to alta), but never really did though I did ski the bird a few times on a friend's pass. The thing with those resorts is that they keep on giving time and time again. You can ski them for a 100 days in a season and you still won't even come close to ski everything. There are so many secret stashes and sick lines, plus there are lines that you can only ski at certain times or there are lines/cliffs that you want to be the first to hit after a storm. A season pass to either of these resorts is a gift that just keeps on giving, i still find new shit to ski at alta all the time even in places that I have skied over and over again.


As for the skis I would go with the gots, they are stiffer than the AKs. But both are good choices and I find that K2 is a better company with warranties and what not.

I am kinda pissed I never got a chance to get to Alta and experience both resorts so I could compare them. Anyone else have any opinions?

buy both, end of debate. If you go to the U and join the UFs your snowbird chairs pass is 359, and alta was 500 I think. When you can ski at both mountains you just have so much terrain at your disposal, every aspect/elevation imagineable there is always good snow to be had.

Yeah, that is one of the main reasons I am leaning towards a pass to Snowbird, I guess I really can't go wrong with whichever pass I choose. I was looking at the snowbird website and I didn't see a tram pass listed for college students, only a chair pass. Do they have a tram pass for college students? Thanks.

I believe a student pass to Alta is 399.00. BTW, what are UF's? A group of skiiers at the school? Thanks.

it's $29 for the alta/bird upgrade per day, and there's rumor of it going up to $35 next winter.

and I rock 189 made n's, using it as my every day ski, as well as my BC ski with skins and trekkers. it was that or the gotama. I chose the Made 'Ns for the extra girth, and the fact that there just isn't that big of a difference in stiffness between them and the got's I demo'd. Both skis pretty mch mandate a DIN of 10 minimum, so make sure your legs are plenty in shape so that you can stand up to that sort of torque before tearing yourself in two. That said, move here first before you buy anything and ski on what you bring. we'll make fun of you for a little while, but it will be better than you doing something silly like mounting your made 'ns at core center or realizing "holy shitballs this is a lot of ski to control" and having a rough time with it. a really rough time with it. UT is gnarly early season anyway...tons of rocks. You don't want to trash a new pair of skis on all that. And, speaking of early season that brings up a good point: preseason hike for snow a lot. Get your body into shape. Next winter will be unlike any other winter you have ever experienced before, and that is no understatement.

Thanks for all the info, I purchased 190cm Gotamas and will be mounting my Solly s914's on them. I skied around 40 days this season, even though it was shitty here in the East. I think I will be in pretty good shape, but will definately be getting in better shape over the summer. Just got back from Killington. Got to rip some sick mogul lines...
