shut up! plenty of people bailed on the JOI hit and noone got seriously injured. so no...that was not his aim. he was perfectly on target to hit a 180.

k, so i asked my physics teacher, and apparantly all he has to do is spin himself in the other direction twice, once to stop the rotation, and once more to start the new one (which was obvious, or at least it was to me). i think it's angular momentum or something. w/e, it obviously doesn't defy the laws of physics, because nothing defies the laws of physics.

guys what u dont know is that there was an invisible rail there and all he did was switch in backside 270 out.. i do em all the time

It's called angular momentum. Your anuglar NET momentum is constant in the are, unchangable. However, through arm swings and leg kicks you can translate this angular momentum into your limbs, thus decreasing it's affects on the trunk. Say pep leaves the ground with a Net angular momentum of 10 kgm(squared)/s counter-clockwise. He swings his arms and legs which have a relative angular momentum of 14 kgm(squared)/s. This allows for his body to have an angular momentum of -4 kgm(sqaured)/second or a clockwise rotation. Thus leaving him with a net angular momentum of 10 kgm(squared)/s.
Pretty nuts, and takes a lot of strength

ya same, one time i went for a 3, turned the other way at 180, and landed in like goofy 90, if you turn you head the other way your body seems to follow

if you ever jump off a really high brige or something you will understand how you can change your spin my moving your body in sections. its mad fun but sometimes you go off axis and smack ur face on the water and get knowcked out.

im not sure how you could have said that.
if you have read any of this thread, you would realize that he did that on purpose. he may have fell on the landing, but none the less, it was sick as fuck

basically sums it up right there

newtons laws. objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by equal or greater force (counter momentum). sky divers do it all the time.

it's actually nothing like sky diving, in sky diving you're using your drag to push you in certain directions/spin, change your body position, change the way drag affects you.
Read what you wrote, 'unless acted upon by an equal or greater force' I certainly didn't see a greater force working on Pep, did you?
Read my post above, it's biomechanics and it's roughly how it was done.

try doing it in a swivel chair, just spin yourself around then throw your arms & legs in the opposite direction, if yiu do it strong enough you will spin the other way.

there was a pic in freeskier a few years ago of a backflip to frontflip in the backcountry

i think he was going for cab cork 3 that would of ben dope to

^yeah i agree... it actually to me anyways doesn't look that impossible.
i mean it is nuts but he hasn't comited enough to the rotation and too much to the cork, so he just seems to hang in the flat 90 position and from that position to me it looks like he can just drop out left or right side depending on which way he turns his head.
most people would have bottled and landed on their head i think. maybe i'm nuts it just doesn't look too far out. the same way the back-180-front works if you over cork into a 90 you can sorta flow out right side 270. either way it's proof that creazzeeerrr shit is possible.

well newtons laws apply to all physics soo.. maybe i made a poor analogy with the skydiving because i didnt even think about the drag coefficient caused by your downward force. but your post pretty much just reaffirms what i said. the equal/greater force would be his countermomentum, moving his arms and legs and transferring his angular momentum would cause this counter momentum... which you actually said.

does nobody remember the rewinds done back in the game days, or was it '1999'...jp used to kill the rewinds, 180 to 180 back...it can be done, it has been done and peps was a mistake that turned out alright...when youve got that much air, all it takes is a lill twist of the shoulders to change ur momentium...

thats not against physics. if you were in the same situation in the air you would understand. its just countermomentum from catwalk. you can twist yoru body and kick to make yoruself do that but no more than 360 on a huge jump

yea i was going to question yous who were saying he defied physics. but then it was explained on the second page. he wasnt spinning fast at all to begin with. so even though it is hard to stop, and rewind. as you can see it is possible. go jump on a tramp and do it. it will almost be the exact same.

its actually real hard to do it on a tramp, full 180 to reverse full 180... i tried cuz i have one.

not really, prewind your arms to spin the second spin, and hten use your legs to spin you one way, when you get to 170ish, throw your arms, and you'll do a 180 to 180 back.
