shurely snowboarders arent brighter than skiers?!why dont ski's have an int std hole pattern in them to mount bindings too? just think how amazing it would be to get up in the morning, look out the window to c what the conditions are. then ask your self 3 questions.

1)what skis?...hurm...pow day so ill take the big ones

2)which binding?....im gonna hike today so ill stick the naxo's on.

3)what mount possition?...no switch stuff or spining so ill mount em' back.

now get the 6mm hex key out and screw 8 screws into the already excisting threds in the ski....perfect.
why havent we got this??why???why???why?? my life would be so much better if this was reality.i could sleep at night so much better...

plus i want to grab my skis and go, not worry about mounting bindings let alone buying more bindings/skis for this process

we did, its called line skis with the reactor binding, but the problem was that the binding was of poor construction and was constantly breaking, plus the bindings would come out easyer much like they do with snow boards, a few screws come lose and bam the bindings come out, its a great idea but need more R&D for the system to come back into production

i ride alot of mountain bike dh.we have hex bolts holding everything together and if you tighten them up fine then they will not come out.esspecially if you keep checking them.pluss, this would be cheeper...as you only have 1 binding (or 2 if you want an AT binding)
the time thing is rubbish compared to all the plus points of the sistem i can see....get up 2.251mins earler??or get on the lift 3 chair's later!
if theis sistem isnt strong enough, then how do tele skiers and boarders use it??

I know Forum and some other manufactures have slots cut in the board and the mounts slide. So they're inifitely adjustable. This would work with skis but you'd probably need a carbon box built around that area as skis simply don't have the same amount of materail in this area as a board does. Without reinforcement the skis would crack in half at this point. But by using carbon you could over come this problem. But a skis with carbon in this amount, you'd probably be looking at around $1000 per pair of skis.

dude snowboarders pull there bindings out all the time and when i ski with boarders they constantly need to tighten up there bindings.

this has been done in skiing before, it is a good idea but the bindings strength is greatly compromised

There's a lot more torque on the screws in skis than boards. They need to be more secure or they'll rip out even more than they do now.

There's more pulling force on the screws of a board and more sheering force on the bolts of skis. It all boils down to cost. Is this concept fesiable? Heck yes. Is it expensive, heck yes.

In order to make it work on skis the binding would have to be on a plate like the reactors were, this adds a good amount of weight and more parts (more parts = greater chance of something breaking)

I heard on NS radio that the founder of line wants that too but its too hard for all binding/ski companies to come to an agreement

to answer ur question go here http://www.lab15.co.uk/ they have this sliderplate technology that looks ill, im going to put it on my kingswood midfats, looks way more solid than line reactors

I get the impression that since it's called a ski insert, it's something the skis are made with. Not something you can buy and mount on the top sheet. I could be wrong though

I think that's true of the top part, the part the binding actually screws into. But as far the bottom part, I think that's inside the actual skis. IDK though. If I can use this on my skis I'm sold!

Dude I think I was wrong. I think they will work. Lol I was looking at the impact pad and I thought it was an insert. The question is now. How hard is it to drill these things and mount them. And whats the range of adjustability

^ yea thought so, i dont think its that hard to mount them on a ski, but it adds height to ur bindings like a riser, but how much?? and i bet u can only move the bindings back and forth like 4-6cm which is still worth it

hmm, if i could put an fks 150 on that i would be a happy camper, it should be made of tungstein so it can be only 2 mm thick and wont break.....hmm ideas ideaes.

the slider plate will deffinatly be awsome if you can put it on any skis.wonder how hard it is to take the bindings on and off??also, if you can fit any binding??....ooo the questions...

ok here is part of an article I found that does answer some of the questions. it in french so ill give the main idea for those of you who dont read or speak french

"Mais ce qui m'a le plus enthousiasmé dans l'assortiment d'Amplid est sans conteste la possibilité d'avoir les 3 skis non carbone livrés non pas nus comme il est d'usage, mais munis d'INSERTS!!!

comme pour un snowboard, la fix est vissée dans les inserts. L'avantage sont ainsi nombreux: on peut déplacer ses fixs d'un ski à l'autre à souhait. on peut régler les fixs pour quelqu'un d'autre, et surtout, on peut déplacer les fixs vers l'avant ou l'arrière, selon l'utilisation voulue...

Dans l'idée, ce système m'a paru d'une simplicité et d'une ingéniosité flagrante.
j'émettrais 2 petis bémols quand même:

- pour un skieur avec des grands pieds, le réglage avaant-arrière et plutôt limité"

the Amplid line which has 5 skis some made with carbon and some made without. the non carbon skis will have the option to come with the inserts.

this is same thing as the line. the problem is that theirs a front insert and a back insert so the system might not acomodate alot of adjustability for larger sized feet.

Im not sure what bindings can fit in there. but im sure the big names in bindings will, Salomon, Rossi, Atomic, and so forth

Look at this economically… the reason there is not good system for switching around bindings yet is not because no1 has thought of it or no1 has found out how to do it… its because ski companies want to make more money! All of the big ski companies either make bindings or they have a partnership with another company that does (look and rossi). Because skiers use a quiver of skis (snowboarders only have 1 or 2 boards) companies want to sell a pair of bindings for every pair of skis. It sucks but hey its capitalism
