ive searched through previous threads and the karma seems like a solid ski. Does anyone have any reason why i shouldnt get them for next season. I do everything as much as possible, in terms of terrain. im 6'3" 185lbs
I rode them all season all mountain and absolutely loved them however, I am not a terrain park expert and I have heard they are too stiff for the park. On the other hand with your weight, you should be able to flex them plenty. I am at175 lbs
im 6'1 180 and i ride the 177 karmas, i go all over the mtn and they r sick every where...i dont do much park either the only thing i dont like is their swing weight when spinning, but other than that they r amazing skis
^ base ur skis on ur weight not ur height...im 180 and the 177s r fine for me, ur 20 lbs lighter...but i guess if u want ur legs worked hard then get the 185s, hell my legs r beat on the 177s sometimes
I'm 5'9" and 167 pounds. The 177 Karmas are great most of the time, but they are A LOT OF WORK to ski on for me when things get tight or I hit a lot of chop.
In hindsight I would have bought the 169's. The Karmas are incredibly fun to ski, but they are very very stiff, so you can get away with a size smaller than you'd normally thing, and probably actually enjoy them more.
take it from someone who skis a little park but mostly just eveyrthing.
its a sick ski for hard carving, little powder, and just cruising. not the best for park cuz its stiff, so just butter them up alot and theyll be a little buttery, i mean i can pop well off my nose and my tails, but not as well if i was on fujis or soemthing. but if u have a good price, i highly recomend this ski for your one ski next year. im keeping my 06s and using some mojos 105s too
i have the 177 2006 karmas and i broke them. I am 6 foot, 150lbs, and I do alot of rails and park and also alot of skiing everywhere on the mountains and these skis are soo sweet. i broke the base and edge pretty bad from a screw coming out of a box and they had alot of edge cracks and delamed at the tip of the ski. my ski shop says they are the first karmas that were taken back and Volkl is giving me store credits. Eventhough they broke, im still going to get next years karmas because they are kickass. i would say you should get 177 if you want it to be alittle flexier but if you rip down mountains then u might want the 185.
i'm 5'7' and i have the 169 karmas, and for the park they are too small even if you centermount them, they ride nice in the park but they are better for anything putside the park if you are riding only or mostly park i would recommend other skis like the fujis.
Karmas suck dick. literally, naw just kiddin'. there ok, I rode them a while back but they seemed a little too soft and the turning radious is terrible. I would go with the stl's for what your looking at them for.
on a different note...if i got some brand new drilled once but refilled and never used 05/06 karmas size 161 could i resell them for a decent amount? the only thing that worries me is no one might want them cuz theyre so short
