Hasn't been a favorite of mine. I always thought he was really good, but a tidge overrated. The fact that he keeps mixing is up really impressed me though. When he landed his kangaroo flip thing like he never left the ground I about peed my pants. I am serious when I say that he landed that smoother than I land just going from regular to switch on any slope. Putrid.
hes got the smoothest landings ever.. i remember about 5 or 6 years ago, the first time i ever saw him, i was blown away simply by the fact that he never looked like he was landing. hes the best and deserved to win the JOI, it doesnt matter if it was his own comp coz he threw down the best trick
Guys..... if you ask almost any pro skier that was was last years JOI, i bet they'll say it was the best contest of there lives. The riders have it made when they go there. i think from what i've heard Jon gives them like badass hotel rooms, and they get some special treatment. Jon deserves to win it, and i'm sure any of them would agree.
in teddy bear crisis he tweeks his truck drivers out to the side in a few shots, one in the extras, and one in his section near the end. they are the sickest looking switch 5s ever done, they look different than any other truck.
jon is my fav to watch. he doesn't have to force his rotations. he just flows through his tricks. smoother than anyone else imo. i posted this before in another thread; but, when he was hitting chad's switch with tanner, he was way more fluid. he was going like 30 feet farther and just slowly and smoothly spinning. tanner is obviously great and stuck his landings. but he had to through harder and you can see him working to get those rotations in before he lands. jon with the added 30 feet was just smooth all the way. its just too bad he could dial in the landing before tanner's ankles exploded.
hes always been super consistent and on top of things basically he hit the scene way back when, but now he is truely progressing the sport in the right direction
Yeah... It's more than a competition. It's like Jon treating some of the skiers that kill it all the time, to a good time. And he gives some of the up and comers from his own country a chance to be seen and known. And he definately deserved to win? if Jon didn't win, who shoulda? The Kangaroo flip is like 900 degrees, going upside down twice, and the stomping the landing. Far more impressive than someone going into a jump backwards and doing the same old switch 10 that we've all seen 100 times. His trick had everything that a winning trick needs. Style, size, grab, technicality, good landing.
I also know that he is one of the most fit, dedicated, and hard working athletes in the world. First to hike it and last to hit it. Heard story about his training regime once and it includes lots of lifting and running.
i respect him alot cus hes so smooth
holds his grabs for so long
try sick shit
and whatever he does
it is perfect
his invitational is making things even better
watching his segments always makes me mad. he never flails, its rediculous. i think jon is immune to crashing/flailing because everything he does is so rediculously smooth. definately one of the best skiers out there.
After watching the video I can now say that the Kangeroo flip is the what is up, the way it is brought around switch like that is tech and stylie. I give Jon a hand for bringing some new shit also.
This is a fucking joke. I can't believe how many people jumped on this Jon Olsson bandwagon. Guys.... Jon ia one of the original skiers. He's been killing forever, is in so many movies.... PoorBoyz, TBC, sooo many.
Jon has definitely been killing it since the beginning, he's been a favorite of mine for the last 5 years. There is no doubt, in my mind anyway, that he has the best style in skiing...
He kills it, I hope he goes back to Chad's or other massive BC gaps because he is so in control and smooth on those jumps, the point about Tanner is true, I bet Jon could do a better/smoother SW 900 on that thing.
