neither the US nor israel will allow iran to have a nuclear weapon. period. should iran come even close their efforts will be sabotaged. irael has no diplomatic relations to lose with iran, if they feel threatened by its nuclear developments they will simply blow them up. it's happened before, read the book Gideon's Spies and ull see what I'm talking about.

What "lies" do you speak of Melvs? You sound like another broken record spitting out Bush vitriol. I am assuming that by "lies" you were referring to WMD. Well news flash genius every major intelligence agency in the world thought Saddam had WMD. The Clinton admin thought Saddam had WMD. Congressmen and women from both parties said and still do say that the overwhelming amount of evidence presented would lead one to believe Saddam was in possession or trying to gain possession of WMDs. The UN thought Saddam had WMD or was in the process of obtaining them. The UN never completed their search for weapons because Saddam did not allow them access to all areas that they requested access too. When all signs point to yes and someone follows those signs that is not a "lie" that is using your best instinct. So tell me again Melvs what "lies" would you be referring to?

Never mind the fact that you can google photos of dead Kurds in Northern Iraq killed by Saddam using chemical weapons in the late 80's early 90's. And how many times do I have to point out that the reporter who "broke" the story on the Downing Street Memo (DSM) admitted that the original version of the DSM was destroyed and the version he made public he regenerated himself. That's about the equivalent of me claiming I had a winning lottery ticket but I destroyed it but I did manage to type the numbers out so you should take my word for it and pay me. Iran doesn't have the "same right as everybody else" when it comes to Nuclear Power. They never signed the NPT like the REST OF THE CIVILIZED world. Then again, the kid who said that wouldn't know the FIRST thing about what the NPT and IAEA is all about.

They harbor terrorists, and would like to eliminate Israel. They are halfway off the rocker (their leaders are, they younger generations are more progressive), which is unfortunate.

Then again, they've enriched Uranium to 2-3%... they only have another 93% to go before I could even give a flying fuck.

Bush has NOT said that he's going to invade, so anybody who has said that you are WRONG. There has been WILD SPECULATION by the PRESS because they LOVE to do that. Read more than what somebody shits on your front doorstep before acting like you know anything.

If any of you would like to know more about the entire process of enrichment or breeding material in reactors just ask... don't act like you know because most of you don't.

I've been thinking of going to grad school for Nuclear Engineering.

As far as I remember, Iran did sign the NPT, but has threatened to abandon it if the States keep harrassing them.

Also, what about the fact that, "India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea...all have nuclear arsenals that remain outside any international regulation" (NPT)?

Iran is a signatory state of the NPT and has recently as of 2006 resumed development of its uranium enrichment program, obstensibly for its civilian nuclear energy program, as it is entitled to do under the terms of the NPT.

Well, first off, the leader of Iran IS extremely psychotic. Period. A, he wants to completely wipe out a whole country. B, he wants Iran to move to Alaska (ha). And all he really wants is people he doesn't like dead.
So, what would happen if you gave this guy nuclear power? It's just like someone said earlyier in the thread, "It's like giving a gun back to a criminal." All he wants is to kill Israel.

And, it is becoming extremely easy for normal people in these countries to make crappy atomic weapons. Way back it was hard for the smartest scientist to make an Atomic bomb. So hey, in like 30 year, all these 3rd world countries could start making Hydrogen Bombs. These are much different then Atomic Bombs, being as they are 1000 times more powerful.

In Hiroshima, in WWII, an Atomic Bomb was dropped. That killed around 140,000 people. So what would a bomb 1000 times more powerful do? I don't even want to know.

So really, the state of the USA invading countries under supicion of the country having nuclear warheads is definitly there business. These weapons should not even exist. All nuclear weapons should be wiped off the face of the earth. All countries just have Nuclear weapons now because they think they need them for international security or something like that. That's the problem. THey all want to be as powerful as the USA to defend themselves.

Sadly, the dead kurds are completely irrelevant, as we knew that Saddam had stopped production of chemical and nerve agents, and their shelf life is all under 5 years, so any vx, nerve gas, etc he had left stockpiled was completely useless.

Even the CIA is complaining about bush's cherrypicking of information, and they just recently found out one of the claims he made during his state of the union aboutIraq acquiring yellowcake uranium was completely false, and was in fact made up by mid level CIA employees who wanted to test how high up un-checked, un-verified information would go if it supported the war.

When Powell went to the UN for support, no countries supported him because every claim he made was already known to be outright false or extremely improbable.

I have my glaring doubts about Iran's responsibility with that kind of energy...weapons or not. Lets say they don't utilize nuclear weapons. Shit can still hit the fan if we get another Chernobyl on our hands...or worse...China Syndrome.

Hmmm, Iran is a signee. Under the terms we would be aiding them with their unnecessary reactors but they have this weird secretive feel where they don't want us involved.

That's odd because we are selling and aiding reactors in INDIA & PAKISTAN on our heavy and light water reactors. Why wouldn't Iran want access to a successful CANDU reactor? Why settle for cheap Russian factory second?

It's fairly clear it's about more than just nuclear energy. Russia offered Iran an excellent deal whereby the Russians would sell Iran enriched uranium, therefore eliminating Iran's need to enrich their own. Sadly this offer was rejected.

aka "hey Iran, promise not to make a bomb and we'll give you some sweet reactor setups along with nuclear material to run them."

Iran has refused this? Why? If all they want is nuclear power like they claim, they could've made the entire international community happy and taken the deal.

Instead they want a bomb so they can waive their dick around and feel like they are an international power... not just a six year old who is poking around under the kitchen sink where he doesn't belong.
