In all my years of skiing I have never seen before so many tragic accidents happen in one season at one time. Its so terrible it deserves a thread. Doug Coombs(rip), 3 mammoth patrolmen(rip), All the kids in vail, breckenridge, winter park, and all up the east coast(rip). All the injuries: Laurent F., Ashley and Ty Battersby, and Witt Foster all blew out their knees, and Marc Andre broke his spine and is paralyzed. Can it get any worse?
Unfortunately skiing has severe risks. We just happened to have a really shitty year in terms of injuries and deaths. But, I'm pretty sure all those people wouldn't want us to let it stop us, keep going hard in their memory and honor.
yes it is the worst season ever. its weird tho, its the one that i didnt hurt myself in... last year was pretty bad too just cause of dumont and tanner, and i fucked my arm up... this year is so much worse tho. RIP to everyone... dont forget teady knape.. mabe you didnt i forget who you said initially.
Skiing is a dangerous sport. We push the limits every day. Injuries will happen and there is nothing we can do. We all took a vow when we started skiing. It still sucks when people get injured or die...
I hate to sound like an ass, but you can only push the sport so far before someone gets hurt.
Skiing is a dangerous, and the pros do amazing stuff and I'm sure they are careful, but with the amount of air they get a misjudgement could mean their life.
I by no means think skiing is or ever will peak. But but maybe this means progression can only be pushed to a limmit so fast. Skiing has progressed soo much the past couple years, I honestly dont think it could keep improving at the same rate with out some more tradgeties.
so its been particulary bad this year, but there have always been years like this one, the kind that seem to have no end in regards to tragity, but it can always get better, and it could have and may still get worse.
Just to be considered bad ass you have to cork 9 a 70ft table, and i know we look at it with apathetic eyes, but that is some SERIOUS SHIT. 10 years ago you would be considered insane.
Welcome to the newschool boys, Cheers to our progression, but we have to recognise all good things come with tags attached.
I look at skiing as a numbers game, if you play long enough eventually you will get a bad hand. No one is 100%, 100% of the time. And in a sport where mistakes can equal tragedy, it's bound to happen more often than not, it's just a question of when and who, not if.
well the east coast winter was especially bad this winter. We got some snow but it all melted the next day and the whole season was freezing and no snow. it really sucked this year
