this thread is over two months late, but i didn't hear about it 'till last night when i found it online, and nothing had been written about it on NS.
Johanna Carlsson, a ski photographer and patroller at Mammoth died in an avalance in the Sierra backcountry over two months ago.
If this is the Johanna Carlsson I knew, then she was married, and later divorced, to ski photog Chris Faubert. i met Johanna in Whistler a few years ago at the WSI while she and Faubert were there shooting photos.
she was a nice person, and she shot really good big-mountain photos, tons of which were published in the major American and international ski mags.
it bums me out to hear that she died. it must be very difficult for her friends and family and the ski community of Mammoth.
