What makes some boxes and rails sticky?

yeah why do they differ so much from one another in regards to speed if there all the same material and 20 feet apart?

If they are warm they can be sticky, like above 40ish(f)

If they're in the sun or not. If it's warping a bit, and you catch the edge that's sticking out or something. SOme of the boxes at my hill warp a bit, and there's big pieces of the material that's been shaved off from edges.

thats cuz the molecular breakdown is less. The particles stick closer together, making the rail a more solidified object. How ever when the heat hits it, the particles warm up and move quicker, making it verrrrry precisly less solidified. How ever its to an extent that it feels sticky.
I swear i learned this in grade 6 science class..

well first off not all resorts use the same topsheet material, at all. resorts wont even tell you what they use for fear of others useing the same. its not all about the particles expanding and contracting. for boxes when its warm the material is not frozen and is just plastic, some of the less hard plastics may be soft enough to catch an edge on somtimes or actually scrap plastic shavings off, like pvc. when its cold the plastic freezes and the molecules do tighten allowing for a harden surface that provides low friction.. rails are the same but the added factor is rust. i have a few metal rails in my park and before every summer session i have to grind the top down with a metal grinder in order for them to not slide like sandpaper. during the winter rails are hit alot so the rust never really builds up that plus the fact that its below freezing most of the time which is below the reacting temp for iron and oxygen (which is what forms iron oxide or rust) so the rails stay nice and smooth.

I always thought that when the rail is a differnt temperature than the air it gets sticky.
