I'm giving up baseball...

This winter, If you live on the east coast, we got the winter that was beyond are wildest dreams....and I skied it. Maybe not all the time but when i was on the mountain I skied it. So last week when i heard that I had a baseball meeting and I would have to give up skiing so i could throw after school and go to the gyms on the weekend, I was ton between the 2 sports I've done since I was 5. I wasn't sure. Should I choose between my ski friends or my baseball friends? Should I quit Skiing until next year and ruin a perfect season where I have learned more and progressed more than any other year? My answer wasn't sure until last night when one of my 'ski friends' came to my house and asked if I wanted to go skiing. My first response was sure but I thought about it and I have a baseball meeting after school and there is no way I could ski and then go to the meeting. I went to bed feeling kind of torn between the 2. This morning, however, I woke up, and called my friend who wanted to go skiing...,'Fuck baseball', I said,'Let's go skiing'...The moral of the story....Fuck baseball, go ski....thanks for listening to my shitty story

yeah baseball isnt gay, ive played it since i was like 4, but id rather ski, and i was a catcher so catching a lot fucked up my knees, now they are fucked up because one year i caught like all nine innings every game and i didnt have those knee saver things and for some reason it fucked up my joints, that another reason why skiing is better

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

well heres my story, im not torn between aynthing cause i can't do either
severe hematoma in my leg from taking a rail to the hip is stopping my skiing as well as my rugby, so tihs sucks

yeah i think i am going to make that same decision this year too. Not solely because of skiing though. If i were to play with my school this year, it would take up way too much time and take away from shit i really love doing. And i mow lawns and work and shit so i can also make more money without baseball. But my brother is giving me his old golf clubs, and i am going to start playing that.

i thought that i never loved baseball, and i didnt feel anything when i quit. This past week i had to read the book Shoeless Joe and watch the Movie Field of Dreams and i now regret having quit after finishing the assignment because i finally relized how great of a game baseball really is.

quit my college hockey team this year so that i could ski more... we get a month long winter break from school, but sports teams have to stay. so, i got in about 20 days of skiing in january instead.

I told my coach that if he didnt let me ski on the weekends that id quit...so he let me ski on the weekends, now i have something todo for the summer

I told my coach 2 years ago that I wouldn't be able to do his illegal lifting sessions on the weekends because I was skiing, and he responded by saying it was doubtful I would get ANY playing time on JV. I quit, and I've never been happier. Baseball's fun, but not when it's taken so seriously that coaches make you devote your entire life to it. Take up golf, that is a chill fall sport.

golf is sweet. It gives you something to do all summer and you can golf your whole life (just like skiing) and its a fall sport for school so it doesnt really interfere with skiing.

Yeah I too have a deal...I'm 13 and I am on an all state soccer team that plays year round...What I do is ski when i want and skip practcie every now and then but i'm not gonna quit yet becasue the state championchips are comming up and thats what I have been working for all year....I am just going to play for my high school tesam next year for just the fall then ski the rest of the year....GOLF KICKS ASS

Nah, it's only illegal when it's in conjunction with normal practices before the season officially starts. That's so all teams have the same amount of work and so have an equal chance at the beginning of a season. My coach wouldn't even let me lift at home during the week which I suggested, because it 'doesn't build team spirit'. I'd be with the team officially the entire time, just not on the weekends during winter. God I hate that asshole, I hope Bob Bote dies a horrible horrible death.

basically you can have practices as much as you want if they are run by the captains or someone else, but the coaches can only be present at practice during the official season.
golf... greatest sport ever, its a spring sport at my school, no weekend practices, basically u go to the driving range, play a practice round, or have a match 2 or 3 times a week.

i quit baseball about last year or year before cant remember for skateboarding in summer... and i was actually good and stuff... i miss it now, but then again i couldnt have it same time as skiing as to different seasons.. and i dont care enough to train... i think i play high school baseball in spring since it ends by summer break.

Yeah, I miss baseball now, it was so fun to just play, but when it requires year-long devotion and the coaches make it your entire life, it's not fun, so what's the point? I was good, but not college-scholarship good, so I was just in it for fun. And yeah, golf was the shit, we had 2 hr. practices after school, and all we did was hit the driving range, putt, and chip. Plus, the tournaments need to start in the morning, so I easily missed 12 + days of school. Hehehehe.

ya ive been playing lacrosse for awhile now and i dont think im gonna play this year. the spring season is ridiculous how sick it gets. and like someone else said i have to work and do good and school and practice everyday. but golf is great ive been playing since i was 5 and play on the school team its great.

I wrestle in teh winter. It was cool and all this yeaer b/c it was my first year, and we practiced like 2 hours a night, had a tournament every couple saturdays. Then my coach realized i was varsity calliber, and now i have to wrestle year round. Know what i said? FUck you. I'd rather skate and ski.

YO, man im indecisive about how much im gonna be able to ride next year, cause of my basketball, i'll be a sophmore (mostly jv)....and shit them coaches take it as if you have to devote you're whole damn life to the sport, its stupid shit, anyways yeah i dont know what to do....I really love to ski, but its extremely hard to do both. weekends & off school days are the only times i have to ski, anyways im out -

I had to make that same descision this year too. I chose skiing. It was probly the hardest choice of my life because i have played it since i was 5. I still love the game but i did not like the way people play to win, over having fun in high school.
