HELP!! I need a vidoe camera

well I tried the search bar, but didn't get all the help I was looking for. I want to get a solid minDV camera with good resolution for the ceapest price possible. My buddy already has a GL1 so I was hoping to get something smaller and more in-expensive like a panasonic 3ccd camera or possibley the canon or sony single CCD cameras. Can someone give me some good honest feedback on getting the best camera possible for around $500-$600, no more. I was hoping to only spend around $400 on ebay. If any one has anything for sale that fits these perameters that would be legit too. I am a broke ass college kid so don't tell me to spend the extra 2 grand and buy a sony 2100 or gl-2. Thanks and I appreciate any help!!!

If I were you I would look into buying something like a Canon Optura 10 or 20...they are both cheap cameras off ebay and they are very good for a 1-chip camera. You could also try getting one of those small Panasonic 3-chip cams...I hear they aren't too bad.

I just got a GL1 and it's sweet, and I've also heard good things about the Opturas. Hell, Canons are just good cameras in general. I haven't really reasearched them much but I hear they're pretty good when you have light, but when it's lowlight they're not so good.

Also, you might want to check out some of the Panasonic 3CCD cams. GS250/300, maybe, not sure how much they run.

yes I realize I spelt "video" wrong, with that being said I also put it in the main ski gabber so more people would see it. anyone else have any more advice. I want to pick one up soon and I want to make the right decision.

Ya the Optura 10/20 is probably one of the best 1 chippers out there... and you could probably pick one off ebay for around $200 if your lucky... I haven't really been following the lower end Panny 3 chippers but I have seen decent things out of them...

get a sharp viewcamZ, they are cheap and the camera piviots for some sick angles, and pretty good quality for the price

the only camera below a vx1000 woth buying is a sony trv900 or 950. But used they're still like $800. You're not going to get a good camera for $400. It'll have crappy colors, crappy resolution, and it'll break 20-30 minidv tapes in. Save your money and buy a good camera.

Thanks for all your help guys. I know some of you think I should just go for the more expensive one, but had you read the part about me being in college and having to pay for all of the expenses that go with living on your own you would know that 1000 is out of my league and yes I have a job already. Thanks for all the input though. I think I am going with the Canon optura. it has twice the reolution of my old camera and that one worked fine for....I'm not trying to produce any high class movie or anything.
