somebody said they close in 2 weeks but, i drove by the other day and the village at the bottom is buried in like 5 feet of snow. Why don't they stay open way longer? oh yeah and tufflmire has girly style

because after a certain point they lose business because most skiers don't like skiing in spring snow conditions/slush

Actually its to do with water rights, the major resorts runoof goes into certain colorado aquifers that want x amount of water avilble, and skiing supposedley will lessen the avilble water splly at points where water demand is high, (BS in my opinion) Since A basin runoff is not part of any mjor water basin, it is allowed to stay open longer

skeptical about the a basin thing. there is a creek right at the bottum of it that feeds into dillon reservoir (sp). And i am also skeptical about your facts. Certainly a few runs and maybe 3 or 4 lifts is not that much actual water mass. Vail is TINY compared to the MASS of forest and high mountains around it.

A basin is not leasing the forest from anybody, it was private land assosiated with loveland pass. That is why you can still camp in the last chance, have dogs and ski on june 5.
Summit's leases from the US Forest Service last until May 11. Therefore level 1 and MSP can shoot at keystone etc after the close to the public.
They close because they get 85% season pass holders and don't make any money. No one cares they are closing EXCEPT season passers so they forecast certain profitability lows and close ahead.

^^ That creek by abasin and the snake river in Summit are the two most polluted rivers in America. (mostly from mines) Water rights shmater tights.

Probably to setup for the after-season invite only shit. The huge hits you see in videos, this is when it happens.
