what do you guys go into the ultimate bc ski???or even which ski u think is best?what dimentions/speks would you like to see??
i think they need to be
light for the ups!
about 100mm under foot
turn radius aprox 21-25m
full twin
tip about 12mm wider than tail for helping with tip dive
little flat thingy on tail for attaching skins
.....anything else??

The only one I can think of are BRO's.

Bro's are right on there.
The ANT fits, except for the flat tail for skin attachment.
The VCT is also quite fitting and has the cutoff tail for skins.

But you can fit tails to any ski right?

Yes, but it works much better with a flat spot on the tail like the VCTs.
The clip will slip off my ANTs from time to time.

Honestly to be the Best Powder Stick probably need to look at either a swallowtail, or reverse sidecut, reverse camber, as they are better than a full twin tip at preventing tip dive (We are talking abot best overall) So I'm thinking a swallowatail Pontoon.

hes said backcountry not powder. in the backcountry you encounter various types of snow. pow, wind buff, crust, hardpacked, frozen over, slush, etc. and can you even attach an sts or clipfix to a swallowtail? and you have no clue what your talking about. reverse sidecut+reverse camber=spatuala which = full twin. and a swallowtail pontoon?what the fuck.
Anyways BROs is wicked light and sick all around. Probably one of the best if not the best touring ski right now.

yea i love the bros...but i really want a full twin as when im riding in-bounds pow i like to have a bit of switch fun from time to time.....the flat bit for the skins is a luxury as its not to often when they will fall of....just out of intrest, does anyone know about fixing skins to swalowtails?could be a bit arkward i guess.....
i want bros with a full twin, anyone know what the radius is for the 17whatever bros??

dude the BROs actually have very close to the full twin. i dont think youd have any problem skiing them switch in pow. almost the same height as the tip(maybe 1-2cm shorter). suprising. the 179s are fairly straight. 125-99-114. dont know the turn radius though

Goode makes carbon skis that are extremely light, like insanely light, but still ride really nice. their biggest one is i think 118 waist.

193 Atomic Pimp. BAM! There's the ultimate backcountry ski right there; super light, 99 underfoot, twin tip (although it may have MINOR problems with skins), and a fairly big turn radius. I know a few people with those for BC and they love them, I'd get a pair if I had the money!

i heard those are gonna rock, but they will wear out eventually, how long i dont know. and they are reverse sidecut too.
and there are these skis i saw in austria, by 'wally' i dont know the site but they make everything from skis to porch awnings.
and these green skis by 'boa' , green and look like a snake, check them out

about a little flat spot on the tail,
if you break out a file and just grind down a spot on the tail a little bit then cover it in epoxy, would that hold together or will it just fuck everything up?

bros sound pretty close to description. also, next year's salomon gun - it's very light for the ups, it is a twin tip, 101mm: underfoot, turn radius: 24.2, tip-waist-tail: 135-101-126 making tail 9mm smaller than tip. pretty close except for the flat tail part; but, skins would still work on them.

maidens are too soft for a bc ski IMO.if you skiing a lot of chutes BROs are easily going to be the lightest off your list.

they have changed the gotama's for 07.they are the same in the waist but have a few more mm ither end so they have a tighter radius.they have a rounder tail profile too.
vct's sound awsome actually.the more i look into them the more they appeal to me.
but, does anyone know how they ski on hardpack???i dont mean 4 the pistes but i need good edge grip as i dont want to kill my ass when i get myself stuck somewhere stupidly icy and steep!
All times are Eastern (-5)
