anyone know how to take the chain off a bike. i have a chain tool on one of my bike too things but i have no clue what to do with it. Is there a spacific link that i have to take apart or what?
If its a sram chain, look for the powerlink(only link that looks different) push it together and it will sepperate, it takes alot of force. If its a shimano chain push the tool through any one of the pins and you're gonna need a new quickpin from a shop. Last ditch option is when you push the pin through try and keep it from going all the way out and u can push it back in again.
first off, check for a master link. if there isnt one, you baisically line up the little pin on the tool with the bearing pin on teh chain and begin to twist, but dont push it all the way out. then just twist it apart slightly. if it wont come out, push the bearing pin out a little more. i hope that helps.
buy some shimano pins and pop ur chain off with a chain tool and then put it back with the new pins
do not reuse pins u will regret it when u are 6 miles in the woods like i did
yeah i poped the pin out all the way and it doesnt seem to want to go back in. i may have to go do that. This isnt for my good bike anyway, im trying to peice together a decent bike from a whole load of parts that i have, ill have to see how this goes. im sure there will be more questions
