is there really that much disadvantage to having a lifter binding? lets say one could potentially snag a pair of lifter bindings for a hot deal, would it be more worth it to pay a little extra, for the bindings without lifter plates? or does the plate really not have that much affect when it comes to park riding. noticable?
it helps with carving and turning. this usually isnt a huge part of park riding.
it puts you higher which gives you more leverage when turning. this could make you farter from the rail or box that you are doin, but at a few mm, you wont even notice probly unless you ride like 100 days a year just park
^it doesn't help. just take them off. they're meant for enhancing carving ability on skinny ass skis. you don't want them for park or fat skis. at least i wouldn't.
Try riding a ski with a 100 mm waist that doesn't have lifters, it sucks. You need lifters on any super fat ski in order to turn because the waist is bigger and you need to be further above it to get on your edges. On a skinny ski you don't need lifters unless you're racing because the smaller width allows you to switch edges more quickly. For park, lifters generally aren't good. If you're in the mood to actually go skiing, you'll probably want a set of lifters on your skis to help you hold an edge.
I'm not trying to tell you guys that you have to ride with them, I'm just pointing out the advantages/disadvantages that they have. If you want to ride a fat ski without any lift, more power to you. Your setup does not affect me at all and as long as it's fun to ride nothing else really matters.
