Fuckin Snowboarders

I dunno about other resorts, but where I live its always the snowboarders that fuck shit up. You never see a skier go up the lip and stop or stop on an actually box, or slide on their ass down a landing. 90 percent of snowboarders are just plain fuckin stupid, but then the other 10 percent are chill and understand that you don't set up a picnic on the landing of a 40 foot jump. Why don't they understand how a park works? Skiers never do that kinda shit. Does this happen other places too? It's so ridiculous, it's like once you put a snowboard on you just forget how to think.

i always do, i yell as loud as i can at them whenever they are being retarded, i just don't get why 10 percent are chill and know what to do, while the other 90 have no clue.

Maybe at your mountain thats true, but at most places i go everyone knows what they are doing.

I do understand what you are saying though, more stupid snowboarders in the park than stupid skiiers, and here is my logic. Snowboarders feel and obligation to go through the park, it has been part of the sport since its inception and continues to be the driving force behind snowboardings progression. While there are racing leagues for boarders, racers make up an infintesimaly small proportion of the snowboarding population and consequently the snowboard community at large doesnt feel it doesnt have the same number of subcategorical outlits that skiing does.

So ya there may be a couple "weekend warrior" snowboarders who think they can ride the park, thats probably true. Most of the time they are there because they think owning a snowboard imediatly makes you hardcore, and justifies getting 'extreem'.

In the same breath its not fair to label all snowboarders as 'stupid' snowboarders. While we skiiers always claim that we go bigger and better, the simple truth is that a majority of our style, ALL of our terrain parks, and loads of our tricks came straight out of snowboarding inovation. Even the idea of shaped skis, which has revolutionised the sport for park rats and racers alike, came DIRECTLY from snowboarding.

In summary its aight to rip on local 'Joe Douch' who does some stupid shit like putting picnic tables in the landings (why would they do that by the way?), but remember every time you carve a sweet line, hit a jump and do a 'Cork 5', or slide a rail, remember that you're standing on a platform that snowboarding built.

You never see a skier go up a lip and stop???? how about all those little skier kids that can't make it to the top of the lip so they have to walk up with their skis in a 'V' and digging their poles into the jump?

now you're just gonna say that's because they're young and they aren't expected to know what to do, but that is the same exact reason that a few snowboarders do what they do, they're just beginners.

and 90% are assholes? i'll admit there are some, but more like 5%

oh yea and that kid before me just pwned you.

mostly all of the snowboarders at my mountain suck and just fuck shit up, but there are the good ones that know where it's at. the biggest problem at my mountain are the ski school kids who snowplow over the lips to all of the boxes.

double pwned. lol. seriously though, i do skiing and snowboarding and i feel no obligation to go in the park while im on a board, im more of a big mountain rider. our mountain does have some snowboarders who sit above to jumps, but we have skiers who do that too. then again, you gotta be carful in our park, its preatty sketchy, so maybe they're just cheacking out their line.

there is the occasional ski school kid as well, but the instructors usually have a pretty tight grip on them.
I guess what i'm trying to say is why are there like 3-4 times more snowboarders who always do retarded stuff than there are skiers? The obligation is definently a good explanation, but that kid^ disagrees. Maybe its just because its a big tourist town so every little get who comes here wants to be "cool" and rents a snowboard and then they want to continue their "coolness" so they go into the "snowboard park."
I don't really know, but the majority of snowboards have no idea what they are doing in the park, so i hate those ones.

I didn't say 90 percent were assholes, i said they fucked up the park.

I didn't say they set up picnic tables, i was being a bit sarcastic by saying they set up a picnic, meaning a group of them will just sit down on the knoll and chill there.

I know that all of our tricks are basically copied straight from snowboarding, I like the snowboarders who know what they're doing and I ride w/ them all the time, but they are the minority at my mountain.

I'm not trying to retaliate, i just suck at explaining what i mean to say, so i'm trying to make it clearer.

I dunno the most annoying group that i have found is racer families. And you know because your a PC skier. There are lots of little racer kids that suck ass and go off the side ofthe jumps on raiils.and killjumps

ya dude, at my hill happens all the time.
They will either ride over the lip or get 1 ft of air and case horribly. And then they will turn down the landing so it turns into ice or stop and then stop again on the landing, well be yellin at them tryin to tell them to get off and theyll either sit their and do nothing or move as slowly as possible. All the boarders are noobs who turn up the jump and then some can do 10's 7's and 9's the good ones but they dont give skiers much respect so its all fucked up. Then again our park sucks ass so yeah.

I know exactly what you mean, happens all the time in the park at my mountain too. and when you yell at them they either spend like a couple of minutes to move or just move two feet to etiher of the sides on the jump, obviously still being in the way

but I ride a lot with boarders too, most of them are chill

i agree....at my mtn. we have skiers and snowboarders who do that and it pissesme off especially when im trying to hit the jump and then i get cut off by one of them. i was skiing with a friend at lon mtn yesterday and some joey boarder stopped on the lip of a jump. he cut off a skier and then stopped in front of him, so its easy to guess that the skier was rip-shit, but who wouldnt be?

usually i just land really close to them and yell in the air, its pretty fun.

There was a train one time of snowboarders who all did backflips of 3's and they all came up like 5 feet short and ate shit, it was soo funny

i hate the way parks, or at least at tremblant, are so snowboarder oriented. boxes and rails are designed with stupid little flat kicks with a tiny gap up onto the rail for snowboarders to kinda ollie onto and 50-50. it sucks. definately no 270s on goin down, it's bloody-well hard enough to stick a regular slide they're so poorly set up. the park staff needs to realize that there are more than just beginner snowboarders in the park.

the thing that pisses me off the most is that tremblant is supposed to have a park that is recognized in north america.. and their money booter is like a 30 footer with tons of kick and a super steep, shitty landing. they only got the pipe set up in late FEBRUARY. they have some dope ass events, but they set up all new shit just for that specific time and close it off to everyone else afterwards.

I dont really like big kickers onto rails though. just a nice wedge for ya to ollie off of and get on there. If you want to 270 on and stuff, it should be about the speed you have, not the kick of the jump.

I have never ever ever had a problem with snowboarders. In fact I snowboarded for a year but then decided to go back to skiing. Over spring break I was up at Stratton, I had been riding all day but I was up there with a friend of mine (girl who doesnt ski park so we had just been cruising all day). It got to be about 2pm and it started raining so we went in for lunch. We both decided after lunch that it was shitty and that we were going to leave, so she left and one of my buddies was running the lift so I wanted to go say whatup to him. After doing so I decided that I was really jonesin for just one run through the park. So I click in and head up to Suntanner. Cruised into the first jump with some decent speed (there was no one around the park at all especially since it was sorta misting rain). Once I reach the peak of my air and the landing of the jump comes into sight I see a motherfucking snowboarder standing exactly where I am about to land. As I'm coming down he tried to get of the way, so his board was off the ground, sorta up in the air. I hit him dead on, complete body check. Somehow I landed on one foot and managed to ski off the landing to the side of the jump to gain my composure to confront this fucking guy. His buddy was on the side laughing. I was soo fucking irate that when the guy came over I tried to punch him. But then something bad happened. I realized that I couldn't even move or lift my hand right hand. I slide off my glove and my hand is oooozing blood everywhere, it literally looked like my hand was painted with blood. I was fucking speechless. I just kept looking at my hand and looking up at the fucking joey d-bag whose snowboard had just royally fucked my hand. Haul ass down to first aid without somehow passing out in the process. His snowboard had caught my hand between my pinky and ring finger and sliced a gash in my hand that was about an inch and a half long, right on the knuckle. In first aid the Doc lifted up the flap of skin to show me one of the tendons in my hand which had by some act of god, not managed to get severed in the process. Sure enough, X Ray time rolls around and the 3rd meta carpal was fractured. YAYYYY. I love (joey) snowboarders. 3 weeks, a plate, 6 screws and about 35 stitches later I am feeling much better, cast for another week or so. But fuck, nothing can make up for the fucking idiotic cunt who was standing in the middle of the goddamn landing. Fucking bastard.

at Bristol its a mixture of both but more importantly the gaypers that just roll over the lip and the knoll over and over again, or the kids that go over the lip of the jump in a power wedge.. makes me cringe.

It's sort of the same at my mountain. But the reason that a lot more boarders are lacking park etiquette is becase there are a lot more snowboarders than skiers in the park at my mountain. Percentage wise, I think skiers and boarders who don't know park etiquette are about equal.

Um, I dont see it as snowboarders and skiers who piss me off, it is just gaypers. Sure, if there is a higher concentration of snowboarders at your mountain, then there will be a higher concentration of gayper snowboarders. This doesnt mean its snowboarders who suck, but rather gaypers from both sides of the spectrum.

i love it when just as im about to hit a rail, a n00b snowboarder cuts me off and hits the side of the jump, getting a grand total of 4.5 inches of air. snowbladers and skiiers do the same thing though, so you cant blame boarders.

Thats an awful story and i hate to hear it. I think the future is park passes. The sport has progressed to a point where not just anyone can roll through and do what we do without LOADS of experience.

I can remember back 5 years ago when most parks were no where close to the level of difficulty they now entail, and most anyone could roll through and get a little air. But things have changed and the 'Park Etiquette' that has become common knowledge in our circles has to be imparted to the ignorent public with more force than a lousy orange sign stating 'Inverted aerials not recomended'.

good idea with the park passes.iv loads of friends that snowboard and now the eticit(cant spell that), but you do get the assholes that think they own the place. iv had the same experience with hitting a snowboarder on landing a 900 so i didn't see him when we hit.when i stopped and shouted at him he acted as if it was me fault for hitting him.

Wow, that actually made me really angry because the exact same thing almost happened at a mountain close to here. There was a 40ft. decent sized step down and me and my friend where hitting it while a few other buddies decided to sit out and just chill. After one sucessful test hit, we go back down and I go first under rotating a 5 and having to settle for a 3, then my buddy comes off the lip, carves, lofts a nice 3 but just as he came off the jump one of those fucking idiot boarders who wear the jerseys and crack hats moves RIGHT ONTO THE KNUCKLE AND STANDS THERE! We are all screaming at him to move and he looks up to see a skier just land literally 2ft. away from his head. I am not trying to make this sound exciting, it was no farther away than 2 ft. from my friend's skis landing right on top of this dumb mother fucker's head. He lands and rides away and just starts tearing this fuckbag a new asshole. What did the dude have to say? Nothing, he just ignored us all and rode away... GOD, THE ANGER FILLS MY BLOOD! FUCK THE GAPERS AND POSERS!

what they need is some kind of universal pass that you can use at all the mountains. Wachusett has a park pass and it's great, but you have to watch a 20 min video and pay $5. If I go to another mountain for a day trip, I don't want to have to do the same thing again just for that one day. But park passes are great ideas.

another problem I've had once or twice is with beginning snowboarders who don't realize that they have a blind side. I've been hit twice by idiots who have turned blindly into me. Never got hurt, but still annoying as hell.

that makes me want to kill some kids...i did that once took out 4 kids on a landings cause they were just sitting there and i landed a 5 and they were little bratty kids and i was about to beat them up and my friends(boarders)were goin to back me up. most kids at my hill understand and we back eachother up for stuff

i was at grouse yesterday and theres a hip on the right and a jump on the left, so these kids go and hit the hip, just strait air but wathever because i suck too and then they ride up the the landing of the jump which i wanted to hit. they went out of there way so they could sit there, like one of them hiked up there. i just stood there and was like WTF. but i was having a bad day so i decided i could wait because i have nothing better to do with my time. maybe its hard for them to stand.

i think it's not about if you are a snowbarder or a skier, it's about some people beeing so stupid that they just can't possibly think that there are a lot of guys wanting to hit the jump where they are "chilling" or " resting". one time in my mountain i did a 180 and this guy was just in the middle of the landing. i landed and right away i crashed with him. nothing happend to me just that i was scared to do another 180 for some time but this guy got all the tails of my skis in his back and i think he deserved it.

Lets face it folks, a lot of boarders are just as cool as us, but some just dont get it. I havent seen a skier go up to a rail, and destroy the lip so he can hit it only once, but I saw a boarder do it, and I ate shit cause he took the sides off the lip. Thats the kind of people who get boarders a bad rep. Im not saying skiers dont do shit sometimes but boarders have a reputation. A lot of them at my mountain are total gapers, same wtih skiers. The difference is the skiers dont act so damn cocky.
