anyone have any pointers I began to attempt these after a 270 on but i can never reverse my spin to the other way, these things are hard, I cant even do swich out of a 270 on
practice. and try not to rotate as hard onto the rail, jst learn mellow spins on. also, once your locked on, try to shift your body weight. its hard, but possible. good luck!
All i can say is there is this dope down flat down box and MATT WALKER did urban 270 on, pretzel (backside switch up), to switch out. so there thats cool, i guess
yeh man same problem here when i was learning them. the trick is once you have 270 on you have to look back up the rail.
so when you spot the rail and look at it and stompe the 270 on you look back up the rail. YOU CANT LOOK DOWN THE RAIL! you have to look back up. took me a heap of tries but watch corey vanular in slow mo in shanghai six about 1000 times and you will get it easy!
a pretzel is the snowboarding term for a 270 off the opposite way upon which you slide the feature as in back or frontboard.... skiers can not use this term as it doesnt apply with skiing...also when you do a 270 then spin an opposite 270 off its not called a pretzel in snowboarding...soo please for skiing sake stop or we will become even more of a laughin sock of the winter sports world.
Since when were we a laughing stock? and who in the 'winter sports world' ie people outside the newschool ski community, even knows about tech tricks like spinning onto rails one way and off another. If they did would they suddenly laugh at skiing because the name has been adapted from snowboarding? do you really think they know or care? i don't think people decide whether skiing is cool or not because of the names of the tricks, they decide because of how it looks.
Also there's nothing wrong with adapting names of tricks from snowboarding- the meaning of all words is constantly evolving- they get applied to new things and can assume a variety of meanings. Because snowboarders do mute grabs does it mean we should't call any grabs mute because skiiers do them differently to boarders? The fact that there are people who do apply the term 'pretzel' to a certain ski trick and many people who recognize what a 'pretzel' means in skiing terms means of course it can be used in skiing- it already is!
YEah man, If you think skiing is the laughing stock of the winter sports world than maybe you should stop skiing and get off this site. Just a suggestion.
dude, just try them on the longest flat rail at pc, maybe that one at the top of p'n's, but its kinda hard to do 270 on to that. but if you do get 270 on then you wanna look back up the hill at you have to get you skis kinda angled so you can push off the side of the rail to reverse your spin. its alot harder on boxes
they are also called silllys by some people
you cant do it on a box it has to be a rail and you have to sissor your skis so that one tip is up and the other is down it stops your spinning momentum
^ I wouldn't say you can't do them on a box. They are just tougher on boxes and look a bit more fugly because you would really just be rotating your hips and arms a lot, at least with most of the people I have seen.
no, he said he couldn't even do switch out after 27 on, which is harder because it's a small pretzel, he never said anything about not being able to do reg 27-27
Just practice and your body will adjust to doing them eventually. It's just like learning just 270's off, it just takes practice... the kind I don't have time for hahaha.
please dont call me a retard for anything that has anyhing to do with snowboarding i snowboard more than i ski.....and the i ride with a crew of snowboarders that would make you wet your pants when you just hear thier names.... i have seen snowboarders do this....it aint a cool trick but they do it for a laugh kinda like spinnning on a box .....i was merely backing up a point.
In snowboarding, a pretzel is like doing a frontside noseslide (where you do a backside 90 onto the rail) and then spin a backside 270 off (same way you spun on) but a DANISH, is when you do a frontside noseslide for instance, and do an oppositely spun 270 off. Mmmm, Im hungry now.
