I am heading to University next year, and I haven't decided yet if i want a Desktop or Laptop. What do you guys think is the better choice for going to University?
idk about the whole college thing, but of all laptops i dont think anything compares to the new macbook pro, and pc users will say how much they hate macs, but u just have to try them out, once u start using thhem u'll never even think aobut the hassle of a pc again
I would say laptop because then you can take it to class with you and such. also it takes up less space and if youre staying on campus you know those dorms arent big at all and a desktop will take up a lot of desk space.
Do you game or multask a lot or are you just looking for something to play movies and take notes?
Laptop
- portable, nice for taking notes in class
- if you going to play games or anything, buy a good laptop for it, a dedicated video card is key, intgrated ones suck (speaking from personal experience)
- make sure it doesnt run too hot for you lap, some run quite warm and if you plan on taking notes with it, you dont wanna melt your crotch
-next to impossible to upgrade so thats another reason to buy it good right out of the box
Desktop
-more storage space (laptops usually come with 80-100GB harddrives while most desktops come with 150 or 250GB)
-easy to upgrade later on if you need it.
- not so easy to take home if your moving back and forth a lot.
I bought a laptop and im glad i did because i take notes with it now (i lost my paper notes all the time). The only downside is that i didnt get one with a dedicated video card so my gaming experience does lack but thats my fault for not looking into it enough.
no, i would want it though because the 2.o with the 256 video and 1gb ram would kill it. Its just too bloody expensive for my budget (2800cdn+tax even with the educational discount)
laptop. When you go home you're gonna wanna take your work with you. You're gonna wanna take it with you to the library. Not many people take laptops to class but its a good way to take notes if you type fast.
Laptop cause you can bring it to class or wherever you want...
i suggest mac
oh, and i heard if you kept your laptop like for a long period of time on your lap and crotch, well you could become sterile or soemthign like that...dunno if its true though
Your testicals hang for a reason; to keep cool. The sperm need a tempature a couple degrees below body tempature to produce properly. If you have a laptop over them all the time, the heat from the laptop could raise the temp in your testicals
I dont know how likely it is or how much it can screw them up, but thats how it works
Its not because of the heat taht you can go sterile. A laptop emits radiowaves wich can cause sterility, and the pourcentage is very high. So when its over your crotch area it his very bad for your kid's future.
I got the intel integrated 900 chipset and i can still play some decent games with it. If your wanting a laptop, do the research first. www.notebookreview.com is a good place to start
you should definatly get a laptop im only a freshman in high school an i thatnk god taht i have it cuse if you have something do that day and its not quite finished you can take it and finish the assignment there also if ur printer is fucked up its portable besides a laptop is way more dope then a desktop
Laptop so u can just chill in class and watch movies and shit ...... i cant even think about going to class without my laptop......my school hooks us up with a dell....has this shit called party insurance so pretty much i can do anything to the laptop and they will fix it or replace it free of charge
So I learned to use a PC and every thing was going fine untill one late sunday night as I was working on a 10 page reserch paper for school and around 1am the computer decided it didnot like the whole idea of working any more so I was left there looking at a blue screen of death. This also happened when I was editing a video when the computer decided it was time to quite working. Lost everything both times. the computer needed everything reinstaled. Like windows and word not just smaller programs. And that is why macs kick windows ass.
I used to only work on windows, but now I only work on macs because of my major (graphic design) and I love them. I have the iMac G5...It's a desktop that pretty much takes up as much space as a laptop. Either way you go, desktop or laptop...get a mac.
WELLL damn i'm going to college next year and i was wondering the same thing.... and i want a mac book pro sooooooo bad but there sooo expensive. what to do waht to do....
