Once you get to the level of golf in which you shoot around even par every round, and realize that you have to practice every day, you will know how much of a sport golf is. It is a never ending process in which to maintain a great level of play, you must bust your ass to get/stay there. Believe me, I know.
stop complaining about 1 year and getting a varsity letter. i say it is a sport, it is hard, and it does take alot of practice to get good at it. i think it is one of the harder sports to play
ahhhhh thank god someone feels how i feel. i play everyday of the summer and do everything i can to keep it together. its one of the hardest sports out there. when your at that high level where your in tournaments and stuff whoever practices the most will win which is what it's all about. once your really good you can't go long without playing. even a few days can mess your timing or swing plane up. not to mention putting and all the other mechnaics of a proper golf swing.
to note, i do know what im talking about and play in the VPGA junior tour.
Ya, my varsity letter in golf does not mean shit when looking for D1 scholarships. The national tournaments you play in, such as the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Amateur Pub Links, AJGA, etc are where its at
alright how bout this one.. (feel free to still comment on the golf) Nascar or thoroughbred racing.. whats more of a sport/ do you condside either a sport?
im sure nascar is similar to golf in the way that most people look past all the mechanics of it but i dont know anything about thoroughbread racing. but yeah, ill say that nascar is a sport.
(not that i think nascar is a sport but..) they have to drive for really long periods of time at 200ish mph and its like 130 F. in the cars.. i dont think everyone could do that
golf is pretty much my main sport, and it takes sooo much work. Requires more practice then football, hockey, baseball etc, to keep playing at your highest level. Tournaments are way more preasure, because your a one man team.
how would you know that..? have you played all those sports.. i highly doubt it. and just because its an individual sport doesn't make it harder... usually individual sports are easier because you dont have to rely on the preformance of other people so there are less variables to factor into if you suceede or not
GOLF is a sport lol its settled.. u get an exercise from it, you learn shit, and its something u can get better in with practic, it has equipment, matches, and palyers... what the fuck else u want?
by that deffinition skateboarding is a sport.. its physcially exerting, you have equipment and other skaters and you can go to competitions and you get better through practice..
if you read the thread.. i said i condsidered golf a sport if you attend tournaments which is the same as my view on skiing, if you attend races or competitions then its a sport.. skiing is also in the olympics and i dont believe golf is
that might cary weight if anywhere i had said that my deffinition of a sport was something in the olympics.. but i didn't i only used that as circumstantial evidence

to go sports authority/ Dicks sporting goods....they are filled with golf shit in both.
And your definition of a sport by weather you compete in it is bullshit. Boronowski, Morrison, Pollard don't compete...so does that mean they dont do a sport (even tho skiing is what pays thier bills)
It sure is a sport, its a competitve activity that takes some measure of physical skill, if that isnt a sport somebody fill me in on what a sport is. It doesnt have to be competitive but does basketball? Thats a sport w/o a question, why isnt golf?
go over 200 MPH with 42 other cars surrounding you. then tell me its not a sport.
and id say golf is a sport. look at MOST of the top guys. they are all fairly old. i mean youve got tiger woods and whatnot, but for themost part everybody on the tour is pretty old and has been golfing their whole life.
