here are the full results

Close to a thousand fans showed up to the base of Park City's Superpipe to watch an unbelievable display of pipe skiing. The dedicated fans braved some light winds and cloudy skies in the morning to be treated to beautiful warm blue Utah skies in the afternoon. As the sun heated up so did the level of competition with some of the best runs coming in the final run.


The day began with training and a women's exhibition. Sarah Burke displayed her skills throwing some big straight air and finishing off with 5s and 7s. After the quick exhibition the men got under way starting with Swiss star Mickael Deschenaux throwing down a run full of new tricks for him but he was unable to put together a full run and washed out near the bottom. Scot Hibbert known to take his licks showed why he finds his way to the front of the pack from time to time with an array of spinning 9's and 5's and his first successful unnatural 9, which was good enough to move him into second place after the first run. Newcomer John Symms continued his hot hand from the X Qualifiers and the US Open and laid down a first run score of 88 putting him in the leaders chair after the first run. Other highlights from the first run were the huge 9 that Greg Tuffelmire stomped on the first hit and Simon Dumont's huge straight air on the first hit.



Run two featured a great run from Phil Larose who came back from a heel injury suffered a few weeks ago. He was able to put together a clean run with some big straight airs, a smooth 540 followed by an alley oop 5 coupled with a huge 9. Tanner Hall preformed one of his consistent smooth runs of corked 5s and flat spin 5s, but bobbled a bit near the bottom but skied well enough to move him into second overall behind Larose. The final run had the pressure on Candide Thovex's shoulders after he had failed to complete a solid run in the first two runs. He needed to put together the same run that we saw in the X Games, but that's easier said than done. After seeing Simon Dumont and Andy Woods putting down some solid runs GT decided he needed to step up the difficulty of his first hit upping to 1260 which he almost landed. After seeing this Tanner was also ready to step up his run stomping every trick with more amplitude than his first two runs. He skied an almost perfect run moving him into the lead. That left the last competitor of the day alone at the top of the pipe with a final chance for victory. Candide skied a clean run but decided to ramp the amplitude down a little to make sure he was able to finish a full run with clean big tricks. His first air was not as unbelievable as we've seen earlier that day but he was still boosting 12 to 14 feet coupled with some huge flares and an overall clean run, but it was not enough to take the lead from Hall who is an extra $15,000 richer.



'I skied the way I wanted to and I'm really excited. It was the last comp of the year for me and I'm happy it's over. The pipe was in great shape and I was able to do what I needed to do to win.' yeah it turns out my friend got some sick footage, so as soon as he lets me take his film (when he is done watching it every day) I will put it up. the jib jam today was cool too, tanner hall won with a 450 on 270 off and a 270 on 450 off, and John Symms did a 270 disaster on the double kink
