Replying to No Park at Louise for 06/07
I was there this weekend and one of the park guys told me to write in and tell RCR they need a park next year at Louise. They want to take it out and not even build one next year (Like they were planning for this year until we all wrote in).
This is what I wrote:
I have heard from different people that you are thinking of not even making a park next season after 3 years of incredible dedication and commitment to your parks. This commitment to your terrain parks at both Lake Louise and Nakiska was the reason why I bought season passes in 03/04 and 04/05. When I heard you were cutting back on your parks this season I didn't buy a season pass, and until last weekend, I had only skied at Sunshine. However, after riding the park this weekend, I don't think I'll be back at Sunshine until Louise's park closes.
The main reason you should build an expert park again next year is this: Sunshine has better snow on 90% of days. They also have a park. Their park is not as good, but it is fun to play around in. It also feels less crowded there because of the lay-out of the mountain. They are also much closer. However, when you have a park like Lake Louise does right now, unless Sunshine gets 40 cm of snow and Louise gets none, Louise is more fun.
On a day where the snow isn't fresh, the park is the next best thing and a huge attraction for many skiers and snowboarders 12-30 years old. In fact, nearly everyone I know plans their trip around which terrain parks are the best. You cannot predict the snow conditions, but you can predict the parks.
I cannot speak for eveyone, but for me and dozens of my friends, your park is by far the biggest reason we go to Lake Louise. As for Nakiska, it is the ONLY reason.
Please, do not make the mistake of underestimating the singificance of your parks. And please don't think that just having a park is good enough. Sunshine has a park; Louise and Nakiska have great parks.
