I just mounted up a pair of Seth Vicious with some Fritschi Freeride Bindings...They seemed like a pretty solid binding, until i took them in the park...In one day (2 runs), I managed to completely blow up both the heel pieces on one landing. I sheared screws, and bent the rails as if they were made of Play-doh. I was hoping to get more than 6 days from these and extend my season until June. Unfortunately, they're just not bomb-proof like they should be.
That's weird, but no worries man, I've already destroyed the heel piece on my Salomons a few times already and just with a month of skiing. It's just something you have to deal with.
that sucks... i don't even have freeride bindings or skis and they've both held up fine in the park for 2 years. Are you casing a lot of the jumps on the nub?
yah get the naxo at binders they are so much more bomb proof then the freerides plus they ride way better that means torsionally stiffer and they have one hell of a heel lock down so no insta-tele on soft skis!
ya i broke both brake in 1 week now and the first the metal bent and so the brake always stays up and now todya i ripped the whole part of my brake out on a 5 that i landed jump fine but my ski came off so now my friends are always on the alert when i fall...lol
ya, touring bindings die in park and cliffs. pretty much anything that invlovles a lot of hard impacts. the new naxos might fix that shit tho, they look a lot more solid
My bro has the exact same set up. I have the freeride bindings on my skis and they have been just fine. Ive used and abused my skis a lot, just that I dont do the park too much. Maybe you could send the bindings back if they are still under warenty. And if you bought them from REI you can just take them back no questions asked.
maybe they broke because they are not made for park? fritschi bindings are not designed for that kind of beating, sure they say "freeride" on them but that doesn't mean they can take the beatings of a regular binding, its a lit wieght binding designed so its easier to go up hill and hold well enough for a strong skier (dins go to 12) to rip down the hill, you still don't see many people drop many major cliffs wearing them. im suprised your so shocked
Im only suprised that they broke that soon. I have freinds who had their skis break before their bindings, but then again maybe that was because they were using pocket rockets. I know freerides arent as beefy as regular bindings because they have more moving parts, but they are pretty beefy for backcountry bindings.
1. You are using randonee bindings in the terrain park?? At what point did you think this was a giid idea?
2. The freerides are bomber bindings - for POWDER and off-piste charging...if anyone told you different or gave you any reason to think you could go into the terrain park with these was CLUELESS
3. That sucks you busted such expensive binders...but it was your fault for not knowing what your gear was made for
To these posters saying get this binding or you should have gotten looks....you have NO clue what randonee bindings are do you?
how do you feel about regular ole race bindings? even though they aren't made for park do you think i'll be safe on the landings. cuz i just started to bump it up to about 60-70 footers and i don't want them to blow out on me during the landing. i know they're heavier but that's cool with me.
bindings are meant to withstand incredible amounts of pressure, as long as you land properly you should be fine, because if you fall awkwardly anthing can happen.
Hippie freerides suck, you gotta get a real binding if you are gonna huck. they are a great touring binding but if you send it, forget about it. I know sooo many people who have blown those bindings up it's ridiculous. Suck it up and get alpine trekkers and race bindings, you'll never blow out of those bindings and they don't break.
Just for the record, I bought the bindings because I mostly ride big mountain. I just think it's funny that i broke them on one run in the park. ONE RUN. I wasn't writing to ask for advice either, Just venting. Everyone seems to think that they need to put in their two cents about what is the best gear, but really it comes down to personal opinion. And in all actuality, I've broken everything. Looks, Salomon TI's, Markers...It really doesn't matter what brand it is, it's bound to fail if you push it hard enough.
pshh i hate my marker m1000 bindings... and yes i dont have money so i got a n00b binding. So yah almost everytime i land switch on a 30 footer or more my brake pops out of palce and i have to shove it back in. They already exploded once with pieces flying evrywhere so im extra careful now... I really wanna land a 5 tho
These are well know bindings. You have to be completely retarded to take a ALPINE TOURING bindings into the park. This has to be the best thread ever made.
