there isnt a camp ground anywhere close. but i bet if you hiked up and found a good place for a tent and posted up. i but you could get away with it for a while. im pretty sure ill be trying that this summer for sure. hike up, get camp made, build a backcountry booter, go back to camp, drink some beer, smoke a blunt, chill. you know.

there is a campground like 2 minutes from timberline lodge called Alpine, but it costs money (I think $16/night) and its high enough up that it wont be open till July probably because of snow
airstrip is free. hitchhike to the mountain if you dont have a car. free too.
trillium lake CG is just a mile or two further than the airstrip, but it costs $16 a night too
then there is still creek which is like 1 mile from govy. $16 too.
you can camp on the mountain if you are core

either camp at the airstrip or just sleep in the parking lot at timberline. both free, both fun. plus i'll be there. haha. the public park should be pretty sick this year and should be up for a while cause they have a ton of snow. so...ya.

yeah a few years back lil john and i stayed at a campsite almost right across from the t-line access road...too bad it was a mile downhill from there to our campsite, which meant that each morning we had to lug our shit up that god awfull hill, cross that road and then start hitch hiking our way up....all tahnks to his dad who changed the plans RIGHT before the trip...fucker

I'll be pitching a tent all summer watching 16 year old racers stream past me on the glacier. But seriously the park will be sweet this year. Mile park will probably last til mid july then we'll move up the hill, sweet pipe too! bring lots of sunscrean. oh yeah and don't forget the jailbait repellant

there is a lake 2 miles from government camp called trillium lake. its only a few dollars per night. you can see a perfect view of timberline from the lake. when you are at the top of palmer express and you look down the fall-line it is the first lake you see. its super close and the view is great. im definately going there in june or july for the public park. good value.

Umm first off try the search bar next time. I'v written about his a bunch of times already but here ist goes again. Camping at Hood in the summer is a kick ass way to ski way cheaper than camps and you'll probably meet more pros than you would at camp, seriously. As far as sleeping you can sleep in the parking lot at the base of the mountain. It free but the only probalem is that the racers get there at like 7:00 and all the litle bastards will wake you up early. There are a few camping spots right along the parking lot at the south end that are in the trees. I've never slept there but I'm sure it's fine skince they don't care about people sleeping in cars. Whatever you do don't pay to camp because there are a bunch of places to sleep for free. You can evern sleep at the rest area in Govy but the truckers are there all night running their engines and it's kind of loud, but free. As far as skiing don't bother getting up early to get first chair. I made this mistake my first trip to Hood in the summer. ALL of the racers get there at excatly the same time for first chair since they want to ski when the snow is still firm. My first day it took me an hour to get from the parking lot to my first run. I'd say at ther earliest get there at like 8:30 or 9:00. That way the crowds are gone and the park is just starting to soften up, another reason not to get there early. You can ski til like 2:00 I think and then if you want to ski more you can hike the park. The public park has been lots of fun in the past with nice jumps. After skiing you are going to be bored out of you mind. Govy in not fun. There are a bunch of little kids running around spending their parents monet and it's just annoying. Bring anything you can think of to kill time, books, magazines, a bike(there are some fun trails in the area), a skateboard, PSP, whatever because from 2:00 until you got to sleep there isn't much to do. For food drive to Sandy, it's well worth the trip. The local markets in the Welches area are expensive and they don't have much. Also the two resturants in Govy are a total jip. Go to the Safeway in Sandy and you'll have a big selection and cheap prices. I'm a big fan of the cheese rolls and begal. Make sure to bring something to keep meat and cheese cold. My cheese got too warm my first trip and I got food poisoning and was up half the night throwing up in the parking lot. And that is pretty much it. I've usually been able to spend less than $200 for a week of skiing at Hood which is way cheaper than camp and in the process I met like 8 pros. It's way fun and hopefully you'll meet some cool people to shred with.

it does rain, but in the middle of july it will happen really rarely, as long as you have a legit tent you wont have a problem. I think i will end up bringing my tent camper up for a couple days

is it at all true that the public park wont be as dope as usual this summer? i remember hearing that the burton slopestyle thing wont be there this year, so im wondering if anyone has heard the same? if so, is that gonna have a huge effect on the size of the jumps?

There are campgrounds on the way up to hood on both sides that cost 20$ a night which is pretty damn cheap. One of them has a shower and bathrooms and shit which is nice. That is where I stayed at mostly. I just slept in the back of my truck and moved from campground to campground to check them all out and see which one is best, It rained a couple days too so be ready for that. It didnt bother me cause I wasnt in a tent though.

I'm told its about a mile hike up to where the public park is if you dont wanna buy a ticket everyday? Is this doable(I'm willing to hike if it saves $40 a day) if you stash your skis up top somewhere?
All times are Eastern (-5)
